Quality Control Inspector โ€“ West Chicago, IL

Are you interested in working with cutting-edge technology in the coating and finishing of aerospace parts and industrial components? If so, a Quality Control Inspector position with Ionbond โ€“ West Chicago Coating Center could be an excellent opportunity for you. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining our high standards of quality and precision, directly impacting customer satisfaction. This position reports to the QHSE Manager at our West Chicago facility.

Ionbond provides advanced coating solutions for applications in the aerospace, medical, food contact, automotive, decorative, tooling and fuel cells industries. We offer a broad range of hard, low-friction, wear-resistant coatings based on PVD, PACVD and CVD technologies.

With 34 job coating centers in 15 countries in Europe, North America and Asia, Ionbond has one of the largest coating networks in the world. Ionbond is part of renowned Japanese industrial consortium IHI Group.

What defines this job?

ยท Inspect coated parts for coating thickness, coating adherence, surface finish, substrate & coating hardness, size and appearance, records inspection information consistent with prescribed methods and procedures

ยท Conduct audits under supervision; control plan audits, product audits, 5S, HSE, QMS self-assessment and customer supplied audit forms

ยท Responsibility for relevant Document and Data control, updates and maintains daily inspection logs in a timely and accurate manner

ยท Maintain a clean workstation; ensure it is functioning within required safety guidelines, and maintaining lab equipment

ยท Communicates effectively to supervision and operating personnel to achieve optimum continuity of workflow and quality, and any other job-related problems

ยท Use precision measuring instruments and makes precision inspection set-ups

ยท Responsible for 5S Program (continuous improvement) in the QC area and other areas where assigned

What do we ask?

Minimum High School education with sufficient knowledge gained through experience; Associate Degree preferred. 2+ yearsโ€™ experience in a manufacturing environment completing QC inspections and procedures. Proficeint PC skills, including Microsoft Office. Good organization and time management. Must pass a color vision test and math test. Must be able to sit/stand for long periods. Must be able to read small print, as small as 6 font and distinguish color differences. Must be able to wear required PPE. Strong critical thinking skills. Effective communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Good dexterity skills, able to handle precision machined parts. Ability to read instructions in English. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a criminal background check and physical screening.
