Job description

About Daussin Law Group

At Daussin Law Group, we help people navigate some of the most difficult and important moments of their lives. Our practice focuses on family law, probate and estate planning, personal injury, criminal defense, and civil litigation throughout Alaska.

We are a growing law firm that values professionalism, initiative, practical problem-solving, and excellent client service. Our team handles everything from high-conflict custody disputes and complex divorces to domestic violence matters and probate litigation. We take our work seriously, but we also believe attorneys do their best work when they have flexibility, autonomy, and support.

We're looking for a remote contract attorney who enjoys family law, takes ownership of their cases, and wants meaningful legal work without the rigid structure and bureaucracy often found in larger firms.

Position Overview

This is a flexible, remote contract position for an attorney licensed to practice law in Alaska, or willing to obtain an Alaska bar license. The attorney will manage family law matters from intake through resolution, including litigation, negotiation, and trial preparation.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, communicating directly with clients, and handling a caseload with minimal supervision while remaining collaborative with the firm's team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage family law cases from start to finish
  • Handle contested and uncontested divorces, custody disputes, child support matters, and property division issues
  • Draft motions, pleadings, affidavits, discovery, settlement agreements, and other legal documents
  • Develop case strategy and advise clients regarding legal options and risk assessment
  • Conduct legal research and prepare for hearings and trial
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations
  • Appear in court as required throughout Alaska
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and provide compassionate, practical guidance

What We Offer

  • Fully remote work environment, except for required court appearances and in-person duties
  • Flexible schedule
  • No minimum billable hour requirement
  • Open-ended contract arrangement
  • Opportunity to work on meaningful and challenging cases
  • Supportive team environment with significant autonomy
  • Ability to help shape and grow a rapidly expanding Alaska law firm

Qualifications

  • Licensed attorney in good standing with any bar association, willing to be licensed in Alaska or already licensed in Alaska
  • Family law experience strongly preferred
  • Strong legal writing, research, and advocacy skills
  • Experience handling divorce, custody, child support, and related family law matters
  • Excellent courtroom, negotiation, and client counseling abilities
  • Strong organizational and case management skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Proficiency with legal practice management software and remote collaboration tools
  • Commitment to professionalism, ethics, and client-centered representation

Ideal Candidate

This position is particularly well-suited for an experienced attorney seeking flexibility, a reduced administrative burden, meaningful litigation work, or supplemental contract income. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, dependable, and genuinely enjoys helping clients through challenging family law matters. This is a client-facing position, so the successful applicant will want to work directly with clients.
