Overview The Southern Oregon Forest Restoration Project Manager supports priority forest restoration and conservation projects in the Rogue Basin and Upper Klamath Basin of Oregon. The role reports to the Forest Strategy Director and focuses on the Oregon Dry Forests and Fire Program and Western Dry Forests Program. Responsibilities & Scope Support and help execute the RFC strategy across Southern Oregon, focusing on the Rogue and Upper Klamath Basins. Advance the Oregon Dry Forests and Fire Program and the Western Dry Forests program through local partnerships and project collaboration. Use project management skills to scoping, planning, oversight, contract administration, and monitoring of dry forest restoration projects. Apply financial management skills: develop and manage budgets, secure funding, administer grants, and oversee vendor contracts. Identify and develop diverse funding opportunities for dry forest restoration activities. Represent TNC externally as a liaison to state and federal agencies, Tribal organizations, Indigenous-led groups, community groups, private contractors, and NGOs. Communicate progress and outcomes to a wide range of audiences, including community partners, elected officials, and technical experts. Work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams led by TNC or partner organizations. Plan, convene, and lead meetings, workshops, trainings, field trips, community engagement events, and other forums with partners. Execute work in variable weather conditions, remote locations, and hazardous terrain. Travel within Oregon and occasionally out of state (approximately 25–30% of the time). Qualifications BA or BS degree and 5 years' experience in environmental science, ecology, conservation, natural resource management, forest or fire management, environmental law or policy, or a related field. Experience leading complex, cross‐organizational projects. Experience communicating technical or scientific information to varied audiences in written, spoken, and graphical form. Experience building partnerships and collaborating with varied teams and partner organizations, including Tribes, non‐profit partners, government agencies, elected officials, and community groups. Training related to the histories, cultures, and sovereignty of Tribal nations. Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and ArcGIS. Desired Qualifications Post‐graduate degree and 2–3 years' experience in environmental science, conservation, natural resource management, forest or fire management, landscape ecology, or related field. Demonstrated understanding of current science, policies, and practices guiding ecological restoration of dry forests in the interior Western U.S. Experience working with Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities on natural and cultural resource management. Experience with community‐based forest restoration partnerships or other cross‐organizational natural resource management efforts. Strong interpersonal skills and political savvy. Experience with contract development, administration, and oversight for on‐the‐ground natural resource management and conservation projects. Ability to apply scientific and technical information to guide conservation decision‐making and on‐the‐ground activities. Experience coordinating people and resources to complete projects on time with attention to detail. Critical thinking, problem‐solving, and project collaboration skills. Experience with ecologically based wildland fire management (prescribed fire and/or wildfire). Multi‐lingual or multicultural experience is appreciated. Additional Requirements Position requires a valid driver's license. Employees may not drive Conservancy‐owned or leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles if considered "high risk drivers." Completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement is required. All applicants must meet The Nature Conservancy's background screening process. Salary and Benefits The starting pay range for U.S. candidates is $71,200–$75,650.
