Job description

We are currently looking for a Senior DevSecOps / Platform Engineer for a 100% remote position on a large federal government healthcare technology project. This role will support enterprise platform engineering, secure cloud infrastructure, CI/CD automation, and operational reliability initiatives within a collaborative DevSecOps environment. The engineer will work closely with development, security, release management, and infrastructure teams to design and maintain scalable platform capabilities that enable secure and efficient software delivery across shared environments and services.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and deployment workflows across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Engineer secure and scalable cloud platform solutions using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), container technologies, and automation tooling.
  • Support platform reliability, observability, operational readiness, access management, and secrets handling across enterprise environments.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve developer experience, deployment efficiency, and release consistency.
  • Implement and maintain DevSecOps controls across build, deployment, vulnerability scanning, monitoring, and incident response processes.
  • Manage platform components including containers, orchestration platforms, artifact repositories, and shared runtime services.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline, deployment, infrastructure, and application environment issues while supporting root cause analysis and service restoration efforts.
  • Develop and maintain platform standards, operational runbooks, technical documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support change management, patching, upgrades, and operational governance activities for shared services and environments.
  • Collaborate with architects, leadership, and stakeholders to align platform strategy and future-state delivery objectives.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, platform engineering, systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, or related technical roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar automation tools.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services, containerization technologies, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.
  • Knowledge of security controls, vulnerability scanning, secrets management, compliance-focused platform engineering, and secure software delivery practices.
  • Experience supporting shared environments, release automation, and operational support for enterprise-level applications and services.
  • Strong familiarity with Linux systems administration, scripting, monitoring tools, and troubleshooting production environments.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering, QA, security, and leadership teams.
  • Experience documenting technical procedures, operational processes, and platform standards with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government clearance.

Additional Qualifications
  • Experience supporting federal contracting environments or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) initiatives preferred.
  • Familiarity with InterSystems IRIS or healthcare integration platforms is a plus.
  • AWS, Kubernetes, security, or DevOps certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting regulated environments with auditability, compliance, and security requirements preferred.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, and Git-based software delivery ecosystems is a plus.
