What are Remote Computer Science OPT jobs?

Remote Computer Science OPT jobs are employment opportunities that allow international students in the U.S. on F-1 visas to work remotely in computer science-related fields during their Optional Practical Training (OPT) period. These positions can include software development, data analysis, IT support, and other technology roles that permit employees to work from locations outside of the traditional office. Such jobs help students gain practical experience in their field of study while offering flexibility in work location. It's important that the job is directly related to the student's major and meets all OPT requirements set by U.S. immigration policies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Computer Science Opt, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Computer Science Opt, you need a solid background in computer science fundamentals, programming, and problem-solving, typically supported by a relevant degree or technical certification. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), remote collaboration tools, and common programming languages such as Python or Java is essential. Strong self-motivation, effective communication, and time management skills help you stand out in a remote environment. These competencies ensure productivity, high-quality technical output, and smooth teamwork despite working from different locations.

How to make $1000 a week remotely?

A remote computer science professional can earn $1000 a week by taking on high-paying freelance projects, consulting work, or remote contract roles that require skills in programming, software development, or data analysis. Building a strong portfolio, gaining certifications, and using platforms like Upwork or Toptal can help secure consistent, well-paying remote opportunities.

Can I get a remote job with a computer science degree?

A computer science degree can qualify you for remote jobs in software development, data analysis, cybersecurity, and other tech roles. Many companies offer remote positions that require programming skills, familiarity with tools like Git, and strong problem-solving abilities, making remote work accessible for degree holders.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Remote computer science roles such as software developers, web developers, and cybersecurity specialists can pay $4,000 or more weekly, especially with experience, specialized skills, or freelance work. These positions often require proficiency in programming languages, problem-solving skills, and sometimes certifications, but they do not always require a formal degree.

How do remote Computer Science professionals typically collaborate with their teams to ensure project success?

Remote Computer Science professionals often use a combination of collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, and project management platforms like Jira or Trello to stay connected with their teams. Regular virtual meetings, code reviews, and documentation sharing are standard practices to maintain clear communication and alignment on project goals. Adapting to asynchronous communication and being proactive in providing updates are essential to overcome the challenges of different time zones and remote work dynamics. Building strong relationships with colleagues through regular check-ins and open communication greatly contributes to successful teamwork and project outcomes.

What jobs can I work on opt?

On OPT, computer science graduates can work in roles such as software developer, web developer, data analyst, systems analyst, or IT support. These positions typically require skills in programming languages, problem-solving, and familiarity with tools like Java, Python, or SQL, and are often full-time or part-time employment in various industries.

Job description

The Role

We are looking to grow our core Applied Science team by adding a "Senior Applied Data Scientist". This is an individual contributor role on a highly collaborative team. The Applied Science team is a self-sufficient, product development team that applies research and experimentation to fulfill its goals of developing and maintaining business-critical software systems. In short, you'll be a full-stack applied data scientist and software developer. 3Play Media has diverse business and technical challenges related to media transcription, captioning, audio description, dubbing, subtitling, and translation. This team makes major contributions in many technical domains, including software engineering, systems engineering, machine learning, natural language processing, generative AI, signal processing, applied probability and statistics, data analysis, and controlled experimentation. You'll be expected to contribute to and learn about several of these domains.

We are looking for a curious, communicative, collaborative, humble, self-sufficient, and flexible data scientist. The ideal candidate is energized by the craft of building efficient, reliable software systems alongside sensible, robust machine learning and AI models. You'll approach engineering and data science as disciplines that are always evolving, and you actively seek out and weigh new approaches rather than settling into the familiar. Above all, you understand that this work is a team sport: you know that strong collaboration, durable relationships, and genuinely diverse perspectives aren't nice-to-haves but the foundation of doing it well.

What You'll Do
  • Contribute to a shared codebase, using GitHub and other modern collaboration tools, such as agentic coding systems
  • Perform the technical elements of a variety of product development and data analysis projects (prototyping, evaluation, productionization, and maintenance), especially related to audio and video processing, generative AI, predictive modeling, and NLP
  • Participate in the internal peer review process, including design reviews, code reviews, and data analysis reviews
  • Design, manage, and analyze controlled experiments within our production systems
  • Regularly report on progress, results, findings, risks, and opportunities
Who You AreMust-haves
  • 2+ years full time working experience in signal processing, data science, or machine learning roles, including predictive modeling, data processing, and data analysis responsibilities
  • Extremely strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong familiarity with Python coding, utilizing industry standard libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib/Seaborn)
  • Interest in presenting technical and business-oriented information to a variety of audiences, including senior management and customers
  • BS/ MS / PhD in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
Nice-to-haves
  • Strong academic and professional experience with audio signal processing, speech synthesis, and computer vision
  • Experience writing, deploying, and maintaining Python and SQL code in a production setting
  • Experience building and maintaining production machine learning systems in a cloud-based platform, such as AWS SageMaker
  • Experience developing and maintaining custom deep learning models using pytorch and HuggingFace, especially models involving text, audio, and video data
  • Experience using third-party generative AI systems, including prompt engineering and fine-tuning
  • Experience in the accessibility and localization industries
⚡ AI at 3Play

3Play is building AI into how we work across every function. We don't expect expertise — we expect curiosity. If you've used AI tools to work smarter, automated something that used to be manual, or found a better way to do your job with technology, that mindset belongs here.

Compensation & Location

Base salary range: $150k - $180k

Location: Remote — United States

Employment type: Full-time
