This position is designated as a Hybrid - Work from Home model with a mix of in-office and remote workdays. The specific schedule will be determined by the manager based on business needs. Candidates for this position are expected to live within a reasonable daily commuting distance.
SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the Information Security Officer, the Cybersecurity Administrator is responsible for the configuration, administration, testing, and ongoing management of cybersecurity solutions and tools. This role actively monitors network and system infrastructure for unusual activity or security breaches and works closely with IT and cybersecurity team members to respond to and remediate incidents in accordance with established procedures.
An effective communicator, the Cybersecurity Administrator applies critical thinking skills and a strong understanding of cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices to analyze security events and communicate risks, impacts, and recommendations to appropriate team members and leadership. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of independently managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
In addition to monitoring and escalating potential threats, the Cybersecurity Administrator uses technical expertise and sound judgment to remediate security findings, support vulnerability and risk management activities, and contribute to the organization's overall security posture and compliance efforts.
All employees are expected to protect the information and assets of the organization through heightened awareness of information security, cybersecurity, and risk management best practices, as well as complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Respond immediately to security-related incidents, following incident response procedures, and provide a thorough post-event analysis.
  • Analyze and manage intrusion detection and prevention systems.
  • Analyze and manage configuration of endpoint detection and response software.
  • Actively monitor, analyze, and remediate events identified in endpoint detection and response software.
  • Manage the configuration of email security gateway rules, web filtering system rules, and firewall security rules and software in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform, document, and report findings from vulnerability scans, where applicable.
  • Maintain procedures relevant to active job duties.
  • Assist with patch and vulnerability exception management activities, including deferrals, validating compensating security controls, and supporting formal risk acceptance decisions.
  • Assist with patch and vulnerability risk policies, standards and reporting.
  • Work with IT staff to ensure that device security configurations comply with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity and follow incident response procedures to resolve issues.
  • Actively monitor, analyze, and remediate events identified in the corporate System Information and Event Management (SIEM) system.
  • Analyze logging from various systems to look for tactics, techniques, and procedures used by threat actors.
  • Assist the Information Security Manager with reporting for security events and cyber-attack attempts.
  • Work with IT to perform change management audits.
  • Stay current with system information, changes and updates including IT security trends.
  • Assume responsibility for special projects and additional tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, a related field, or a commensurate combination of education and experience required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to analyze potential project outcomes with the adaptability to redirect attention as needed to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to accurately and quickly complete standard mathematical equations and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers at all levels.
  • A positive and proactive approach to work, demonstrating enthusiasm, adaptability, and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful or adverse conditions.
  • Proficient computer literacy, including comfort with Microsoft systems and Office Suite.
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet the needs of this position.
  • Current driver's license and reliable transportation with appropriate insurance coverage; additionally, the ability to drive occasionally in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • The ability to work with minimal or no supervision.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Relevant industry certifications (Security +, SSCP, DoD 8570, or similar) preferred.
  • Palo Alto and/or SIEM certification preferred.
  • Direct experience managing enterprise security controls, including email filtering systems, EDR/XDR solutions, web content filtering, and Microsoft 365 Defender preferred.
