Job Description:

***Candidate is required to be located in the Southeast region of the Continental United States. Travel is expected to be 90%.

GDIT is seeking a Network Field Service Engineer to support the Automated Installation Entry system in the Southeastern Region. This position will require travel to other locations throughout the United States. MUST HAVE A CURRENT AND ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE.

How the Network/ Field Service Engineer will make an impact:

  • Maintains smooth operation of local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN).

  • Plans, evaluates, designs, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.

  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, Cisco switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, Windows servers 2008 / 2012. WIN 7, WIN 10 OS, SQL and REDHAT etc.

  • May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.

  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.

  • Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.

  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that includes selection and recommendation of hardware and software packages.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Must have a current and active Secret clearance

  • Network analysis experience - 3 years of experience

  • IAT Level II (Security+ or equivalent certification) desired

  • Must be able read and understand schematics and designs.

  • Must hold a valid Driver's License.

  • Knowledge of low voltage hardware desired.

  • Experience with using Hand and Power Tools desired

  • The ability to travel frequently. Candidate must be local to Southeast region of the U.S. for customer travel.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Science (desired.). 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.

The likely salary range for this position is $73,965 - $86,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
