position summaryMerjent, Inc. (Merjent) has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Senior Project Manager with demonstrated success in the environmental permitting process in North Carolina. The successful, North Carolina-based candidate will join our existing consulting division working with clients to manage project teams for energy infrastructure projects (oil, products, and natural gas pipelines; electric transmission facilities, etc.).This position requires experienced technical knowledge managing multi-component and sometimes complex projects that require federal, state, and local permitting of energy-related projects. This is a remote work position; however, candidates must be based in the eastern US, with preference given to candidates located in North Carolina and surrounding states.This is a full-time benefits eligible opportunity. The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $145,300 and $183,400 annually, dependent upon qualifications and experience. We are proud of our reputation for delivering quality work and building long-term, trusting relationships with our clients and with regulatory agencies. responsibilitiesServe as the Project Manager for projects in North Carolina and surrounding states, which may vary in size and complexity.Effectively manage project budget, schedule, and manage project risk through implementation of standard project management processes and tools.Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and bring new opportunities to Merjent. qualifications and experienceBachelor's degree in a natural resource/environmental field required.At least 10 years of experience working with permitting processes through agencies such as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, federal land-management agencies, State Historic Preservation Offices, FERC, and state regulatory agencies in the eastern U.S. (including North Carolina).Experience with FERC-regulated projects is preferred.A minimum of 5 years of experience or familiarity with project management and/or deputy project management preferred.Knowledge, interest, experience, and/or advanced degrees in environmental law, planning, anthropology/archaeology, hydrology, biology, wetland ecology, or other technical fields is a plus.Excellent oral communication and technical writing skills.Strong self-starter tendencies and excellent organizational/task management skills.Able to adapt quickly and work well under pressure, both in large teams and one-on-one.Able to work independently with minimal supervision.Able to analyze, organize, and interpret data from multiple sources and translate that information into direct, easy to understand written deliverables.Must be detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.Proficient at the Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); technical editing experience a plus.Must be willing to travel domestically as needed (0-20%), depending on the needs of the project.  E-VerifyMerjent, Inc. participates with the United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) E-Verify program.
