Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health evaluations, including preliminary interviews, behavioral assessments, and documentation from initial consultation to the conclusion of treatment.
  • Develop tailored treatment plans and intervention strategies for clients, addressing their unique needs whether they are individuals, couples, families, or groups.
  • Facilitate engaging individual and group therapy sessions, employing various therapeutic modalities to promote healing and personal growth.
  • Monitor client progress throughout their treatment journey, adjusting plans as necessary to ensure efficacy and improvement.
  • Collaborate actively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
  • Follow up on clients admitted to hospitals, ensuring continuity of care and effective communication between caregivers.
  • Identify potential barriers to recovery, providing preventative strategies to mitigate issues and encourage resilience.
  • Support family members and primary caregivers in navigating mental and behavioral challenges, offering guidance and resources tailored to their needs.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our clients come from diverse backgrounds and face various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and trauma. As a mental health counselor at Metro West, you will be instrumental in providing culturally competent care that respects the unique experiences and needs of each individual. Your expertise will empower clients to reclaim their lives and achieve their goals, fostering positive outcomes within the community.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LMHC, or LCSW in the state of Florida.
  • A successful track record of passing the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Proven experience as a mental health counselor with a focus on individual and group therapy.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, specifically AVATAR, for documentation and client management.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in managing complex case loads, particularly with clients dealing with co-occurring disorders or addiction issues.
  • Familiarity with best practices as set forth by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • Strong understanding of the effects of medications prescribed by medical specialists.
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with clients and their families.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on empathy and understanding.
Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position with an attractive annual salary ranging from USD 80,000 to 100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
