Contract Length: 26 Weeks
Pay Range: $35 - $38/hr on W2
*Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.
Duties:
  • Review and interpret patient medical records.
  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes based on physician documentation.
  • Primarily code complex:
    • Ambulatory surgery cases
    • Observation visits
    • Special procedures
  • Assist with outpatient ancillary, specialty clinic, and emergency department coding as needed.
  • Abstract required information from medical records.
  • Enter coding and abstracted information into the electronic health record.
  • Submit physician queries when additional documentation or clarification is required.
  • Collaborate with physicians and Clinical Documentation Specialists.
  • Maintain a minimum 95% coding accuracy rate.
  • Stay current with coding guidelines, documentation requirements, and regulatory changes.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of current, full-time hospital outpatient coding experience.
  • Strong experience with ambulatory surgery and observation coding.
  • Experience with ICD-10-CM and CPT-4.
  • Medical record abstracting experience.
  • One of the following certifications required:
    • RHIA
    • RHIT
    • CCS
    • CPC
  • Current AHIMA continuing education certification records required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and critical-thinking skills.
