This role involves providing comprehensive mental health support and therapeutic intervention for a diverse client population, all from the comfort of a remote work environment. Counselors will play a vital part in promoting emotional, psychological, and social well-being for our patients while adhering to established clinical guidelines and productivity targets.

About the Organization

At Crystal Lake Families & Kids Services, based in Waldorf, Maryland, we pride ourselves on being a multifaceted clinic that serves the community with an integrated approach to healthcare. Our services include obstetrics, pediatrics, family planning, and general medicine, alongside mental health services designed to address the social and psychological issues affecting our clients. We prioritize confidentiality and accept a variety of insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare, ensuring that we can accommodate as many patients as possible.

Work Environment

The role offers the flexibility of a fully remote work setting, allowing counselors to effectively manage their schedules based on client appointments. We foster a supportive atmosphere that values collaboration among staff and encourages ongoing professional development. This position is structured within an outpatient office model that emphasizes holistic care, integrating mental health management with primary healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor at Crystal Lake Families & Kids Services, you will:

  • Assist primary care providers in recognizing, treating, and managing mental health and psychosocial issues as an integral member of the care team.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient intakes, performing diagnostic and functional evaluations, followed by informed recommendations to the primary care provider regarding treatment goals and plans.
  • Provide brief, focused therapy to patients requiring immediate mental health services, utilizing evidence-based practices to ensure effective interventions.
  • Monitor patient progress through follow-up communications and adjust treatment approaches as necessary to enhance outcomes.
  • Identify 'at-risk' patients and work proactively to develop and implement relapse prevention plans that promote stability in mental health.
  • Document all patient interactions diligently within the treatment chart, maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring proper communication with primary care providers.
  • Educate patients on self-management techniques and healthy lifestyle choices to empower them in their own treatment and recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with clinic management and other team members to evaluate behavioral health services and outcomes, contributing to ongoing program development.
  • Maintain compliance with the Code of Ethical Conduct for Clinical Professionals, ensuring that all interactions remain confidential and professional.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our counselors work with a wide range of clients, including children, adolescents, and adults facing various mental health challenges. These could include anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral issues, among others. By providing a safe space for healing and growth, you will play a critical role in facilitating positive change in the lives of our patients.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling or a related field.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland.
  • A strong understanding of mental health assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic methodologies, including family therapy, group therapy, and DSM-IV diagnoses.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team and establish effective relationships with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Proficient record-keeping and report preparation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish will be preferred, as this greatly enhances our ability to serve a broader client demographic. Additionally, candidates with experience in community resource navigation and psychotherapeutic techniques will find themselves well-suited for this role.

Compensation and Benefits

Crystal Lake Families & Kids Services offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 87,000 to USD 105,000 based on experience and qualifications. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
