What is a Remote Coder?

A Remote Coder is a professional who writes and maintains computer code for software applications while working from a location outside of a traditional office, often from home or any place with internet connectivity. Remote Coders collaborate with teams using online tools and are responsible for tasks such as debugging, code reviews, and implementing features. This role offers flexibility and may require strong communication skills and self-motivation to meet project deadlines. Remote Coders can work in various industries, including technology, healthcare, and finance.

What Does a Remote Coder Do?

Remote medical coders handle patient information to ensure their medical services are billed properly to their insurance company. This administrative position is sometimes referred to as medical records technicians or health information technicians. Unlike coders who work in the office, remote medical coders work from home or another location outside of the office. Remote medical coders collect, research, and file patient medical information. As a remote medical coder, your primary responsibilities include making sure that all the data in a patient’s record is accurate and up-to-date, organizing patient data within multiple databases, and using medical codes to determine reimbursement for insurance billing purposes.

Will a medical coder be replaced by AI?

Medical coders perform complex tasks that require understanding medical records, coding guidelines, and compliance, which currently limits full automation. While AI tools can assist with coding accuracy and efficiency, human oversight remains essential to handle nuanced cases and ensure proper documentation. Therefore, medical coders are unlikely to be fully replaced by AI in the near future, but their roles may evolve with technological advancements.

How to make $1000 a week remote?

A remote coder can earn $1000 a week by taking on multiple freelance or contract projects, often requiring strong skills in programming languages, problem-solving, and time management. Building a solid portfolio, obtaining relevant certifications, and using platforms like Upwork or Freelancer can help secure higher-paying assignments. Consistent work, specialization in high-demand areas, and efficient project completion are key to reaching this income level.

Can you work remotely as a coder?

Remote coding jobs are common in the tech industry, allowing programmers to work from home or any location with internet access. Many companies offer remote positions that require skills in programming languages, version control, and collaboration tools. Flexibility varies by employer, but remote work is widely available for qualified coders.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Coder, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Coder, you need in-depth knowledge of medical coding systems, anatomy, and healthcare regulations, typically supported by a certification such as CPC, CCS, or CCA. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) software, coding tools like ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and online coding platforms is essential. Strong attention to detail, time management, and self-motivation are critical soft skills for accuracy and productivity in a remote setting. These skills ensure precise coding, compliance with healthcare standards, and reliable performance while working independently.

How can I make 2000 a week working from home?

A remote coder can earn $2,000 a week by taking on multiple freelance or contract projects, often requiring advanced programming skills and a strong portfolio. Increasing hourly rates, working efficiently, and securing high-paying clients or long-term contracts are key strategies. Building expertise in in-demand languages and tools can also help achieve higher earnings.

What are some common challenges faced by remote coders and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote coders often encounter challenges such as maintaining clear communication with team members across time zones, managing distractions in a home environment, and staying motivated without in-person supervision. To address these, it's important to utilize collaboration tools (like Slack or Zoom), set up a dedicated workspace, and establish a structured daily routine. Regular check-ins with your team and proactive communication can also help ensure alignment on project goals and deadlines.

Job description

TECH TEAM LEAD

THE OPPORTUNITY

System Pavers is one of the largest and fastest-growing outdoor remodeling companies in the United States, operating across multiple markets and expanding every year. Our technology organization is the engine behind that growth — and we're building it to win.

We recently completed a full replacement of our technology stack — Dynamics 365 CE and FO are live, Azure is our cloud backbone, and we're now in scale mode. This role sits at the intersection of customer experience, marketing automation, sales enablement, and emerging AI technology. You'll lead a team of four engineers, work hands-on in the code, and report directly to our Solutions Architect.

This is a player-coach role. We want someone who can design and build, not just direct. If you're energized by building and delivering great software as part of a disciplined team — and can elevate the engineers around you while doing it — this was built for you.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Technical Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers focused on the CX workstream

  • Translate approved solution designs into high-quality, on-time builds across Marketing, Sales, and Integration — you own the execution, not the architecture

  • Stay hands-on: contribute code, conduct code reviews, and maintain high standards for AI-assisted development

  • Drive adoption of AI developer tools across your team — we expect ≥80% AI-assisted code integration

CX Workstream Delivery

  • Lead the build and delivery of Marketing automation, Sales enablement, and third-party integration solutions — partnering with the Program Manager who owns overall delivery accountability

  • Evaluate and implement emerging CX technologies — including AI platforms (e.g., Leaping AI, SIRO, GTR) — that improve the customer journey

  • Ensure all solutions tie to measurable business outcomes: demand generation, conversion rate, customer satisfaction

  • Partner with our Solutions Architect to receive clear solution designs and translate them into buildable implementations

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate daily with the Program Manager on sprint planning, velocity, and blocker resolution — escalate within 48 hours

  • Partner with the BA / Project Manager to ensure PBIs are sprint-ready before planning — zero tolerance for ambiguous requirements

  • Participate actively in QA and testing — you are Responsible for test execution and bug resolution; the QA Lead owns the sign-off gate

  • Report velocity trends to the Program Manager weekly; trend toward ≥30% lift vs. Q1 2026 baseline by Q4

  • WHAT YOU BRING

    Required

    • 10+ years of software development experience

    • 4+ years leading or mentoring a development team

    • Hands-on experience with marketing automation platforms or CRM-adjacent integrations

    • Proven track record integrating or evaluating AI/ML tools in a production environment

    • Experience working in Azure (.NET ecosystem preferred)

    • Strong understanding of API design and third-party integration patterns

    • Comfort working in an Agile/Scrum environment with ADO or equivalent

    • Excellent communication — you can present to business stakeholders and write clean technical specs

    Strongly Preferred

    • Background in construction, home improvement, or field service technology

    • Familiarity with Domo or similar BI platforms for measuring solution impact

    HOW YOU'LL BE MEASURED

We believe accountability drives performance. Your success in this role will be evaluated against clear, trackable metrics — reviewed weekly with our CTO.

Developer Velocity Lift  —  ≥30% increase per developer by Q4 vs. Q1 2026 ADO baseline

AI Code Integration  —  ≥80% of pull requests include AI-assisted base code

Solution Adoption Rate  —  ≥80% user adoption within 60 days of deployment

Defect Escape Rate  —  <2 defects per Epic reaching UAT or production

Sprint Commitment Reliability  —  ≥85% of committed story points delivered per sprint

    WHY SYSTEM PAVERS

    • Company in scale mode — new markets opening every year

    • Greenfield technology environment — you're not inheriting debt

    • AI-first culture — we expect and fund AI tool adoption

    • Direct impact — your work drives revenue and customer experience

    • $140,000 – $160,000 base salary + annual bonus opportunity

Fully remote — work from anywhere in the US

Collaborative leadership team — high trust, low bureaucracy

Clear growth path as the technology organization matures

System Pavers is proud to be an inclusive and equal opportunity employer of a diverse set of individuals and will consider for employment all qualified applicants. System Pavers requires the satisfactory passing of a standard background check for all positions and a clean driving record when driving for the job is required.
