New Ventures Engineer

Position Summary

The New Ventures Project Engineer will support the identification, evaluation, planning, and execution of strategic capital projects and new business opportunities. This role will work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, commercial, finance, and leadership teams to evaluate investment opportunities, manage project execution, and develop recommendations that support the Company's long-term growth strategy. The position will report to the appropriate leadership within the New Ventures organization and will be located in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules, execution plans, and milestones using project management software.
  • Coordinate project status, resource planning, deliverables, and benefit tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to scope, screen, and evaluate new project opportunities.
  • Manage project communications and provide routine updates to leadership and project teams.
  • Conduct post-project reviews and identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance future project execution.
  • Ensure projects adhere to established governance, company standards, and project management processes.
  • Develop project forecasts to support annual planning, budgeting, and capital allocation activities.
  • Evaluate project economics, investment decisions, and capital efficiency through financial analysis and project lookback evaluations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to identify and recommend capital and workover projects that maximize value.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and executive-level recommendations for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Synthesize technical, financial, commercial, and regulatory information into clear, actionable recommendations for executive decision-making.
  • Lead technical due diligence efforts with external engineering firms, EPC contractors, power generation providers, and modular data center developers.
  • Support the commercial structuring and project management activities associated with large-scale behind-the-meter power delivery projects.
  • Serve as a key contributor on integrated energy development initiatives involving multi-billion-dollar capital investments.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Recent graduate or up to two years of relevant engineering experience, including internships or co-op experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Eagerness to learn project management, economic analysis, and business development within the energy industry.
