What is a Remote CMMS?

A Remote CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is a software platform that allows organizations to manage their maintenance operations and assets from any location through cloud-based technology. It enables maintenance teams to schedule work orders, track equipment performance, and monitor inventory remotely, improving efficiency and reducing downtime. With a remote CMMS, users can access real-time data, collaborate with team members, and ensure timely maintenance—no matter where they are located.

What are some common challenges faced by remote CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) specialists, and how can they be addressed?

Remote CMMS specialists often encounter challenges such as coordinating maintenance schedules across different locations, ensuring accurate data entry from off-site teams, and maintaining effective communication with on-site staff. To overcome these issues, it's important to establish clear protocols for reporting and documentation, leverage collaboration tools for real-time updates, and schedule regular virtual meetings to stay aligned with the team. Building strong relationships with facilities personnel and staying proactive in troubleshooting technical issues can also help remote CMMS professionals succeed.

What is the difference between Remote Cmms vs Remote Maintenance Technician?

Job description

Company Description
Redzone, the Connected Workforce business unit within QAD / Redzone, helps manufacturers make more products for less while greatly improving the employee experience. While there is a lot of hype around digital transformation, the factory of the future, and Industry 4.0, the focus has been on the equipment and technology - not the people. At Redzone, we are all about the people, what we call "the connected workforce."
We make frontline teams more engaged and more productive so their lives improve while contributing to positive business outcomes. We do this by combining exceptional software and world-class coaching, giving our customers an average productivity increase of 26% in 90 days. Redzone brings together Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams, improving the communications between those teams to resolve issues and increase output. Decision-making happens on the shop floor by the people doing the work, in real time, for immediate impact and a better overall employee experience.
With an AI powered platform, nearly 2000 plants and over 500,000 users, Redzone is changing the way people work - one plant at a time.
Job Description
The Systems Architect at Redzone is a critical, customer-facing role responsible for managing and executing the lifecycle of data integration projects. Serving as a hybrid Technical Project Manager and Integrations Specialist, you will guide customers through the discovery, planning, configuration, and deployment of reliable data pipelines between Redzone and their third-party systems (such as ERPs or CMMS platforms).
This role requires a technical generalist who excels at driving project milestones, managing customer relationships, and using platform tools, including AI-assisted middleware tools like Boomi, to perform hands-on configurations.
You will ensure seamless data exchange across Redzone's core integration pathways: SFTP, Public RESTful APIs, Single Sign-On (SSO), and OPC UA Automation.
This position is full-time, exempt, remote and based in the United States. Employee may be required to travel occasionally, up to 10% annually.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Integration Project Management & Customer Relations
  • Lead Integration Delivery: Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers from project kick-off to go-live, ensuring milestones are achieved on time.
  • Technical Discovery: Conduct scoping sessions with customer IT teams and system integrators to translate business requirements into structured integration plans.
  • Consultative Guidance: Clearly explain complex integration concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, establishing clear partnership boundaries and expectations.

Hands-On Technical Configuration
  • API Suite Support: Guide customers on how to interact with Redzone's standard RESTful OpenAPI library. Provide clear architectural advice on how customers must iterate operations programmatically.
  • SFTP Utility Deployment: Set up and test automated one-way data imports (via CSV templates) utilizing FTP clients.
  • SSO Implementation: Coordinate and configure Single Sign-On integrations using SAML-based Identity Providers (IdPs), managing automatic user provisioning and customer metadata exchange.
  • OPC UA & Data Automation Setup: Assist in provisioning and configuring Redzone's proprietary client agent (RZLogger) alongside standard OPC Servers (such as KepServerEX) to automatically pull PLCs and other industrial devices' data.

Middleware Utilization & Boundaries
  • AI-Assisted Middleware Mapping: Leverage specialized AI tools (such as Boomi) to quickly build, transform, and manage data workflows within the Boomi environment.
  • Enforce Integration Boundaries: Educate customers on the technical boundaries of the Redzone ecosystem.
  • Maintain Agnostic Support: Reinforce that Redzone is system-agnostic. Support and coach the customer's IT team or partners as they build and host their own automated middleware workflows, while stepping in to handle the Redzone-side configurations, or owning integrations solutions for customers who purchase integrations projects from Redzone.

Key Boundaries of the Role (What You Do Not Do)
  • No PLC/Hardware Engineering: You will coordinate the data-gathering setups (OPC UA/RZLogger), but you will not write low-level PLC code or perform physical instrumentation engineering.
  • No Outbound Scraping: Redzone does not programmatically "fetch" or pull data from external third-party environments; you will configure Redzone to receive incoming data pipelines managed by either Redzone or the customer.

Qualifications
  • Experience Level: 3-5 years of experience in a technical consulting, technical project management, or integrations engineering role, ideally within a manufacturing, supply chain, or enterprise SaaS environment.
  • Strong Project Management: Proven track record of managing multiple customer projects simultaneously, managing stakeholder expectations, and driving project timelines.
  • Exceptional Communication: Superior relationship-building skills with a demonstrated ability to switch seamlessly between speaking with frontline factory operators, technical IT engineers, and corporate executives.
  • Integrations Generalist Core: Solid conceptual and practical understanding of:
    • Web Services: RESTful API architecture, JSON data formats, HTTP methods, and Bearer Token/OAuth authentication flows.
    • File Transfers: SFTP server structures, directory management, and CSV format constraints (UTF-8).
    • Identity Management: SAML, SSO architecture, Identity Providers (IdP), and claims configuration.
    • Industrial Automation Basics: Fundamental understanding of OPC UA or Modbus architecture, Kepware/KepServerEX, and VM networking logic.
  • Adaptability & Tech Savvy: High comfort level adopting new technology interfaces and leveraging generative AI tooling to accelerate operational configurations. Familiarity with integration middleware, EDI, and AI tools.

Additional Information
Compensation Package:
  • Base pay range: $120,000-130,000 USD Annual (12 Months)
  • Placement within our pay range will vary based on knowledge, skills, experience, and market location variations as well as internal peer equity.
  • This position is also eligible for an annual company performance bonus.
  • U.S. benefits package includes medical, dental and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, paid-time off, parental leave, and well-being programs.
