What is a remote club volleyball coach?

Remote club volleyball coaches are professionals who instruct and mentor volleyball players through online platforms rather than in-person sessions. They provide training plans, analyze game footage, offer strategy advice, and give real-time feedback via video calls or digital communication. This approach allows players to receive expert coaching regardless of their location, making volleyball training more accessible and flexible. Remote coaches often use specialized software and communication tools to track progress and foster team development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote club volleyball coach?

To thrive as a Remote Club Volleyball Coach, you need a deep understanding of volleyball fundamentals, coaching experience, and often a relevant coaching certification. Familiarity with video conferencing platforms, digital training tools, and video analysis software is typically required. Excellent communication, motivational skills, and adaptability are standout soft skills for engaging athletes virtually and fostering team cohesion. These skills ensure effective remote instruction, athlete development, and a positive team culture despite physical distance.

Job description

Crimson Education is the world's leading college admissions consulting firm, with over 1,490 Ivy League offers and 2,410 to the US Top 15. We help ambitious students gain admission to the world's top universities through expert-led guidance and proven, data-driven strategies. Crimson students are 7x more likely to get into the Ivy League than their peers. We were recently featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.
Crimson is the only college admissions consultancy that brings together:
  • Former Ivy League and Top 20 admissions officers to rigorously review and refine applications
  • Professors and PhD teaching fellows from leading universities to guide students through original, independent research - with pathways to selective peer-reviewed publication or conference presentation
  • Past ISEF winners and judges who coach students to compete for state, national, and international science fair awards
  • Capstone project mentors who help students design and scale leadership initiatives with real-world impact, measurable outcomes, and credible external validation

We're backed by leading VC firms, including Tiger Global, Heal Partners, IceHouse Ventures, and Movac, and recently closed a USD $40M Series D funding round at a USD $640M valuation. We now operate across 21 markets worldwide, including the US, Canada, UK, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Role
Crimson Education is currently growing our Global Athletics team and we are looking for a sport-specific Athletic Strategy Consultant (Men's/Women's Volleyball) who has a passion for coaching, mentoring and supporting the next generation of collegiate student-athletes heading to the US. This role will be a contract or part-time job to begin with and fully remote. The work hours and number of clients can be determined by your schedule. There is potential for this role to grow into a full-time position in the future.
What are the main responsibilities for this role?
  • Work closely with student-athletes within your sport who are aiming to play collegiate athletics in the US, developing meaningful mentoring relationships.
  • Consistently meet with each student-athlete through video chat. The expected meeting cadence will be per 2-4 weeks in active recruitment months, and per 3-6 weeks in their earlier years.
  • Maintain consistent communication with student-athletes via our tech platform and through email.
  • Hold student-athletes accountable for organisational and developmental tools, such as training logs and competition reflections.
  • Evaluate film to provide student-athletes with feedback and instruction, as well as suggestions for organising their recruitment video.
  • Research and discuss the best camps/showcases/opportunities for the student-athlete to attend in order to increase their exposure to relevant US college coaches.
  • Help student-athletes maximize their talent using your knowledge and resources to further develop them as athletes.
  • Work with student-athletes to develop a clear, personalized and intentional plan for their US College Athletic recruitment, giving realistic expectations on US school lists.
  • Help student-athletes navigate and stay proactive throughout their recruiting journey.
  • Advocate for student-athletes with US college coaches when appropriate.
  • Update parents on progress of the student-athletes when relevant.
What skills and experience are required?
  • Experience playing and/or coaching at a top US-based university
  • Knowledge of US College and University options (i.e., NCAA D1, D2, D3)
  • Knowledge of SAT/ACT, Academic Requirements, and NCAA Eligibility
  • Detailed understanding of the US College Recruiting process
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills
  • Strong strategic planning and communication skills
  • Excellent verbal communication
  • A passion for mentoring teenagers
Why work for Crimson?
  • Rapidly growing start up, with a flexible working environment where you will be empowered to structure how you work
  • Limitless development and exposure - our internal promotions/role changes made up 33% of all recruitment last year
  • $1000 individual training budget per year, we love to 'Level Up' (it's one of our core values)!
  • Psychologist on staff
  • Insightful fireside chats and workshops to help support our high-performing and ambitious team
  • Radical Candor is a feedback approach we live by
  • We're a global player with 28 markets (and growing) across the globe. Most roles have the option to work from one of our many offices or remotely!
