Job description

Remote Cloud Engineer

Apex Systems is looking for a qualified individual to fill an opening for a remote Cloud Engineer role. Please see the job description below for details of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement, support, and/or migrate applications (lift and shift, refactor) onto Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, OCI or VMC on AWS).
  • Implement, support DevOps toolsets e.g. configuration management, automation, containers, CI/CD, Source Control and IaC).
  • Proactively seek new value-add automation opportunities for internal customers and converts those new opportunities to realized value.
  • On-time delivery of projects while striving for high degree of automation.

Required Qualifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Information Technology, Business or a related subject required.
  • Highly technical and analytical 6 years of IT implementation experience in infrastructure engineering and automation/DevOps
  • Strong experience in Linux or Windows operating systems
  • 2 years of hands on programming skills (e.g. Python, Ruby, Perl, JavaScript, Go, Shell scripting etc.)
  • Experience administering and deploying development CI/CD tools e.g. Gitlab (must have), Puppet (nice to have), Ansible, Artifactory, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes and SCCM in production environment
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM template) either /or
  • Experience with cloud management platform (e.g. VMware vRealize Automation, OpenStack) is preferred
  • Experience with creating reference architectures, implementation, and system design documentation.
  • Experience in working in an Agile environment and on multiple projects simultaneously
  • One or more cloud certifications (AWS Professional Certifications, Azure Professional Certifications, Oracle Cloud Certifications)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Openness and ability to learn new skills and technologies in a fast-paced environment.
