Job description

Senior Clinical Supplies Specialist

ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation united by a mission to bring new medicines and treatments to patients faster.

As a values-driven organisation, integrity, collaboration, agility, and inclusion are at the heart of how we work and interact with each other, customers, patients and suppliers.

As a Senior Clinical Supplies Specialist at ICON, you will lead and coordinate external clinical supply packaging and distribution activities, ensuring the successful delivery of clinical trial materials through third-party contractors while maintaining quality, compliance, and study timelines.

What You Will Do:

You will serve as a key technical lead for external clinical supply operations, managing complex packaging and distribution activities while driving operational excellence and stakeholder collaboration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading external packaging, labeling, and distribution activities for assigned clinical studies, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, quality standards, and GMP requirements.
  • Coordinating with third-party contractors, internal stakeholders, and supply chain partners to define technical requirements, assess feasibility, and mitigate operational risks.
  • Overseeing clinical supply documentation, including packaging specifications, labeling content, batch records, and execution readiness activities.
  • Managing communication with external vendors to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with study requirements and performance expectations.
  • Tracking study milestones, supply activities, and key performance metrics, providing clear status updates to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Supporting the implementation of new external supply strategies, supplier onboarding activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring accurate, compliant, and inspection-ready documentation while maintaining data integrity across clinical supply operations.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in clinical packaging, labeling, distribution, and related supply chain processes.

Your Profile:

You will bring strong technical expertise in clinical supply operations, with the ability to independently manage complex external packaging and logistics activities while collaborating effectively across global teams. Required qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, life sciences, or a related discipline
  • Significant experience in clinical supplies, packaging operations, supply chain management, or logistics within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO industry.
  • Strong understanding of Clinical Trial Supply processes, including packaging, labeling, distribution, and inventory management. Solid knowledge of GMP, GDP, GCP, and global regulatory requirements related to clinical supplies.
  • Experience managing third-party contractors, external vendors, or outsourced clinical supply activities.
  • Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions and levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
