Job description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Manages the delivery of excellent nutrition care to patients by providing orientation and training to new hire dietitians and ongoing training as needed to support Nutrition Services priorities, goals, and areas of focus to Operational partners and facility dietitians in assigned regions. Exercises influential leadership by leveraging key performance indicators to guide Operational partners in maintaining accountability and ensuring the successful and timely execution of projects and programs related to Nutrition Services initiatives. Acts as a resource and subject matter expert to assist in the improvement of clinical quality outcomes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works closely with Nutrition Services leadership to share established standards, priorities, goals and areas of focus for facility dietitians with Operational partners in assigned regions.
  • Provides Operational partners with regular updates on established key performance indicators for facility dietitians.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for Nutrition when collaborating with other members in the assigned regions to achieve CMS Conditions for Coverage and FKC quality program requirements.
  • Provides consultation, guidance and feedback based upon professional standards and company guidelines to support regions and facility dietitians within the assigned geographic area in achieving the desired quality outcomes. Acts as a Nutrition Services resource and subject matter expert for regions and facility level dietitians as needed.
  • Attends and participates in regional, area, facility and team meetings as appropriate which may include: staff training and development. Collaborates with appropriate management staff as needed to achieve effective inter-disciplinary, intra-disciplinary, and operational relationships.
  • Manages orientation and training of all new dietitians within the assigned region with the assistance of Education team, Nutritional Services team, and other departments. Provides communication and ongoing training required for existing facility dietitians to stay abreast of clinical competencies and meet policies and procedures individually and/or through area meetings.
  • Collaborates with other members of the regional interdisciplinary team to achieve standards identified in CMS Conditions for Coverage and company quality requirements.
  • Technically proficient in utilizing appropriate dashboards to monitor high-level quality trends. Analyzes complex issues using in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives. Evaluates results and communicates improvement activities to Operational partners as needed.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to design and formulate in-depth, specialized training programs and policies for national implementation with the primary goal of utilizing these programs to improve quality and clinical practice.
  • Collaborates with Nutrition Services leadership to design and formulate in-depth, specialized training programs and policies for national implementation with the primary goal of utilizing these programs to reduce risk exposure in the areas of clinical practice, quality, business, and customer service.
  • Responsible for the national delivery and ongoing maintenance of assigned training programs. Responsible for ensuring assigned training programs are available and readily accessible to staff hired after initial rollout.
  • Interacts frequently with internal departments; particularly in problem resolution. Strong decision maker, capable of handling unforeseen issues.
  • Attends and participates in regional meetings as appropriate
  • Maintains and improves knowledge and skills for a competent and innovative practice.
  • Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education hours as specified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and state licensure regulations where applicable. Maintains and improves knowledge and skills for a competent and innovative practice.
  • Stays abreast of updates in national Commission of Dietetic Registration and state dietetics credentialing/licensing/regulations, where applicable, for states within assigned regions.

EDUCATION AND REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:
  • Registered Dietitian as per Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Current state licensure, if applicable.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • 3+ years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years' experience as a Manager; or 2+ years' experience in a senior managerial role.
  • Certification as Renal Nutrition Specialist (CSR) preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other web-based applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership competencies and skills for the position, including ability to teach, strong organizational skills, excellent communication, customer service, relationship development, results orientation, team building and decision making.
  • Maintains professional demeanor and presentation
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team to develop projects, motivate other team members, and gain support and input from team members in an unstructured environment.
