As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Unity Point, you will engage in a variety of essential tasks, including:

• Conducting comprehensive mental health evaluations to assess patient needs effectively.
• Providing crisis intervention and developing treatment plans tailored to individual client situations.
• Determining appropriate dispositions for patients and coordinating care to ensure access to necessary mental health services.
• Completing all required documentation and statistical reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Collaborating with various stakeholders, including the Department of Correction, to facilitate proper housing and treatment for individuals under care.
• Leading group therapy sessions on mental health observation units or other settings as required, fostering a therapeutic environment for shared experiences.
• Participating in weekly clinical supervision sessions to ensure ongoing professional development and adherence to best practices.
• Engaging in mental health and medical rounds to stay informed and involved in patient care progress.
• Coordinating with other programs and institutions to enhance patient treatment pathways.
• Involvement in case conferences to discuss treatment planning for patients receiving or being considered for mental health services.
• Potentially participating in psychological testing as assigned.
• Supervising interns and student volunteers when necessary, contributing to their educational experience and professional growth.

This role emphasizes working with a diverse client population, including individuals struggling with various mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotional difficulties. Our counselors utilize telehealth platforms to provide accessible care, allowing them to connect with patients in their own environments, thereby reducing barrier to treatment and enhancing overall wellness outcomes.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling is required.
• A valid state license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker - R Privilege (LCSW-R) is mandatory or the ability to obtain one upon hire.

While not mandatory, candidates with previous telehealth experience or who have worked in a remote clinical setting will have a competitive edge. Familiarity with electronic health record systems and an understanding of mental health regulations and best practices for teletherapy are highly desired.
