What is a remote climate change professional?

A Remote Climate Change job involves working on climate-related research, policy, advocacy, or solutions from a remote location. These roles span various fields such as environmental science, sustainability consulting, carbon accounting, and climate policy. Professionals in this field may analyze data, develop strategies for reducing carbon footprints, or support organizations in climate adaptation efforts. Remote work allows for collaboration with global teams and organizations without being tied to a specific geographic location.

What are the typical responsibilities and daily tasks of a remote climate change professional?

Remote Climate Change professionals usually engage in activities like collecting and analyzing climate data, preparing reports or policy briefs, and developing sustainability recommendations. Depending on their specialization, they might also design or implement projects focused on carbon reduction, support environmental impact assessments, or contribute to grant-writing and stakeholder engagement. Much of the work is conducted independently online, with regular virtual meetings and collaboration through digital platforms. This structure allows for flexible schedules while still requiring clear communication and coordination with team members and partners across various locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the remote climate change position?

To thrive in a Remote Climate Change role, you need a strong background in environmental science, data analysis, and climate policy, often supported by a relevant degree or professional experience. Technical proficiency with climate modeling software, GIS tools, and data visualization platforms is commonly required, along with industry certifications like LEED or climate risk assessment credentials. Excellent written and verbal communication, self-motivation, and collaboration skills are crucial for working effectively with distributed teams and stakeholders. These competencies ensure accurate research, effective project execution, and impactful contributions to climate change mitigation or adaptation goals in a remote setting.

Outbound Sales Representative

Job description

Type: Full-time, remote, sales, non-exempt role.

Requirements: Professional US-based home office with high-speed internet, smart phone, and pre-existing right-to-work status required (Onward Climate does not provide sponsorship or relocation assistance).

CULTURE & IMPACT

This high-impact sales role offers real earnings upside (top sales reps earn $80k+). Outbound sales calling is demanding. Top sales reps thrive well beyond the 2-year mark; for most, the sales pace and job satisfaction fade after 1–2 years. We share those averages for transparency, not to set a cap. Candidates who thrive here view this as a high-reward stage to grow their knowledge about climate and clean energy, hone elite sales skills, and hit sales targets.

Every day, we connect people with clean energy programs that matter-voluntary utility offerings that support renewable energy, reduce carbon emissions, ensure a more sustainable grid, and give customers a direct way to act on their values. We bring genuine enthusiasm and professional discipline to every sales call, and we hold ourselves to high standards of quality and compliance. Great sales representatives here don't just hit a number - they move the energy transition forward, one conversation at a time.

RHYTHMS OF THE ROLE

Focus: Outbound Sales Cold Calling: Enroll utility customers through high-volume outbound sales calls. You will hear "no" frequently; elite sales reps here use that as fuel to find the "yes."

Schedule: 40 hours/week. A minimum of 30 hours will be dedicated to active sales calling during local program hours (9 AM – 7:30 PM PT | 9 AM – 7:00 PM CT/ET).

ABOUT YOU
  • Performance-Based Sales Experience: You have 1+ years in a quota-driven, persuasion-based role - sales, fundraising, canvassing, or similar. You know your numbers and aren't shy about sharing them. Outbound B2C phone sales or fundraising experience strongly preferred.
  • Resilient Communicator: You have natural phone presence, proactively handle objections competently and confidently, and sustain energy, empathy, and call quality from the first call through call attempt #80 and beyond.
  • Coachable & Consistent: You implement feedback between sessions - not weeks later. You protect your calling hours, track your own performance, and show up ready to improve.
  • Detail-Oriented & Tech-Savvy: You maintain accurate documentation, easily navigate multiple screens and apps, and are comfortable with Google applications, softphone dialers, and team communication platforms (Slack).
  • Values-Driven: You're genuinely motivated by environmental impact and can connect program benefits to what customers actually care about.
EXPECTATIONS
  • Performance Standards: Meet or exceed sales performance KPIs with a consistent average of 55+ dials per hour and steady growth in sales conversion rates. Meet or exceed specified call hours, call quality (sales call compliance reviews ≥ 99%), and professionalism performance measures.
  • Navigate Barriers: Confidently address customer concerns and overcome objections by using our sales response framework–connecting program benefits to customer needs to drive sales.
  • Professional Resiliency: Maintain a positive, compliant, professional presence throughout every interaction - including challenging calls.
  • Commit to Growth: Engage fully in paid training, coaching, and quality reviews. Be ready to discuss your own metrics at every 1:1.
WHY JOIN US?
  • Competitive Pay: On target earnings of $68-$70k annually earned through $23-$24/hr starting base pay (DOE/Location) plus a monthly sales bonus structure with high earning potential (top Sales Representatives earn over $80k)
  • Profit Sharing: We believe in collective success and share profits with employees.
  • Work/Life Balance & Earned Flexibility: Fully remote. Fixed schedule during onboarding; opportunity to negotiate adjusted hours is earned through consistent performance and reliable communication.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Excellent medical, dental, and vision coverage with most premiums covered by Onward Climate, annual HSA contributions ($1,000 for individuals / $4,000 for families), up to a 4% 401(k) match, and a monthly internet stipend.
  • Paid Time Off: Up to 4 weeks paid vacation annually plus up to 10 days accrued sick time per year, 11 paid holidays, 2 wellness days, and 8 hours of paid volunteer time. Opportunity to earn bonus paid vacation days by reaching sales targets.

YOUR TOTAL COMPENSATION AT ONWARD CLIMATE: Our compensation grows with you. Whether for an individual or a family, we invest in your benefits so you can focus on making an impact.

*Base salary ranges and bonus structures are discretionary, subject to change, and may be modified in the future. Profit sharing is determined based on year-end company performance.

OUR COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, INCLUSION AND EQUITY

Onward Climate is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where different perspectives contribute to better solutions. Onward Climate welcomes people regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, gender identity or gender expression, age, sex, pregnancy, marital status, ancestry, disability, military or veteran status, sexual orientation, genetic information, or any other category protected by law.
