This is a senior level professional fee coding position with at least three (3) or more years of recent experience in anesthesia and pain coding. Anesthesia/Pain Coder staff key duties include reviewing documentation to assign appropriate CPT/ASA codes using the CPT-4/ASA manual and established criteria. Anesthesia/Pain Coder will work with clinic supervisors and/or providers to resolve coding issues and questions, following applicable payer rules and guidelines. This individual will also work with members of the Revenue Management team to address coding issues and concerns.

In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. required
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree, preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of recent experience in anesthesia and pain coding.
  • Knowledge of anesthesia coding and elements related to anesthesia claims, such as units of time and anesthesia modifiers.
  • Understand rules and regulations governing Medicare billing of anesthesia and pain services. Knowledge of NCCI, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and modifiers pertaining to anesthesia and pain services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology
  • Experience with the electronic health record (EHR) and health care applications required.
  • Epic experience required.
  • Demonstrate advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  •  CPC Required upon hire, Source: AAPC
  • Certified Anesthesia Pain Management Coder (CANPC) certification required to obtain within 1 year of hire.

Physical Requirement - Sedentary work - prolonged periods of sitting and exert up to 10 lbs. force occasionally
