Job description

About Monstro
Monstro is a governed AI platform for regulated financial institutions. We give banks and wealth managers a way to deliver trusted advice digitally - to every client, not just the top tier.
Institutions already have the relationships, data, and context to understand each client. Monstro turns that understanding into advice. It gives every client the experience of a personal advisor: bringing together their full financial picture, identifying what matters, and delivering personalized guidance across investments, tax, retirement, insurance, legal, and more.
For clients, that means clearer decisions, proactive support when life changes, and a better view of their financial lives. For institutions, it means deeper relationships, more clients served consistently, and more of each client's financial life managed in one place.
What makes this possible is how the system is built. Every recommendation reflects the institution's own views, policies, and permissions. Every output is auditable, traceable, and reversible, and client data stays under the institution's control. Generative AI shapes how advice is designed; at runtime, execution is deterministic - so every output can be explained and stood behind, not just trusted.
The work
We are building for a high-stakes industry where the work has real consequences. The challenge is to make advice more personal and more available without making it less trusted - to build AI that institutions can audit, explain, and reverse, in a domain where being wrong carries real cost. That is a hard problem, and it is the reason to be here.
You will work on technology that brings real financial advice to people who have rarely had access to it. You will be expected to think clearly, move with urgency, hold a high bar, and take responsibility for work that matters. We are an early team building something ambitious, and what you do here will shape both the product and the company.
About the Role
The Chief Product Officer role at Monstro is a rare opportunity to own a transformational, category-creating product - strategy, roadmap, design, execution, and the team that delivers it - across two products that define a new standard for how AI operates inside financial institutions.
No company has built what Monstro is building. The MVP will have launched to clients by the time this person joins, with an initial product team and systems in place. This role inherits that foundation and takes it further - enhancing the product based on roadmap priorities, client feedback, and the demands of scaling to deployment across millions of users.
The two products are a bank-branded mobile consumer experience and an institutional platform for bankers, advisors, and operators. The Chief Product Officer works closely with large institutional design partners to shape both from MVP into full deployment, defining how they connect and reinforce each other as a unified system.
This role requires judgment to set direction in genuinely new territory, the craft to hold a high bar across both products, and the leadership to grow a team that operates at Monstro's pace and standard.
Why This Role Matters
Monstro's entire identity is the strength and outcomes of its product. Our technology redefines how banking works for everyone - from the average person to the ultra-high-net-worth client.
The Chief Product Officer is at the forefront of that. This person takes a launched MVP and builds it into a product that works for every user type - from the retail banking customer receiving a financial recommendation for the first time, to the banker and advisor operating on AI-driven intelligence. The impact is real: transforming how people interact with their finances, at scale.
Internally, this role owns the product roadmap and drives cross-functional alignment across all teams to ensure Monstro delivers on its strategy and is successful as a company!
What You'll Do
Lead & Grow the Product Team
  • Inherit and lead an existing team of two product managers with initial systems in place - and build on that foundation as the company scales
  • Set the standard for planning, prioritization, decision-making, and quality
  • Lead design from day one and hire product talent as scope grows

Post-MVP - Client Feedback - Scale
  • Own the next phase: enhancing the product based on roadmap priorities and real client feedback
  • Own client delivery - implementation, configuration, and go-live at client sites - in close partnership with engineering
  • Work with large institutional design partners to shape the product from MVP into deployment across millions of users
  • Manage the roadmap across both products as client priorities and business direction evolve

Dual Product Ownership
  • Own the bank-branded consumer experience and the institutional platform for bankers, advisors, and operators
  • Define how these two products connect, share intelligence, and reinforce each other
  • Ensure both meet the precision and accountability standards institutional clients require

Product Operating System
  • Define a modern, AI-first product process for a regulated, high-accountability environment
  • Leverage AI tools natively across prototyping, requirements, user journeys, and technical handoff
  • Build from first principles - Monstro is not a variation on existing banking or fintech patterns

Category Definition
  • Create the language and mental models for a new category of AI-native financial infrastructure
  • Define how banks guide customers using AI-native intelligence - personalization, guidance, and actionability at scale
  • Own Monstro's product narrative with bank partners, institutional design partners, and the market
What Success Looks Like
  • The product operating model is defined and running - teams know how decisions are made, how work is prioritized, and how quality is maintained, with high autonomy and a consistent quality bar
  • Engineering and design partnerships are tight - product, design, and engineering operate as a unified function with shared standards and fast iteration cycles
  • Client feedback from the first bank deployments directly shapes the next iteration of the product - nothing is assumed, everything is validated
  • Institutional design partners are actively shaping the roadmap, and the product grows increasingly solidified, frictionless, and scalable with each deployment
  • Each new deployment is faster, cleaner, and more informed than the last - compounding momentum as Monstro scales
  • Product is a strategic partner to the business as Monstro scales globally - roadmap decisions reflect both client priorities and commercial demands of entering new markets
  • Monstro's product becomes the standard others in the industry benchmark against
What We're Looking For
  • 15+ years in product overall, with meaningful time at the CPO or equivalent level in an early-stage or growth-stage environment
  • AI-native mindset with hands-on experience across prototyping, requirements, user stories, and technical handoff
  • Deep experience in fintech, wealth, banking, or complex regulated data products
  • Proven track record leading two distinct products - consumer and institutional - and managing the complexity between them
  • Experience taking a product from initial launch through client feedback cycles into scaled institutional deployment
  • Comfortable inheriting a small team and building it into a high-performing product organization
  • Strong builder DNA - lean teams, fast iteration cycles, real client constraints
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field; MBA or advanced degree a plus
  • Calm, precise communicator across executive conversations, institutional partner meetings, and day-to-day with engineering and design
Why Monstro?
  • Ownership & Impact: Shape the future of AI-powered finance - building a category-defining product used by consumers and institutions around the world.
  • Experienced Team: Join a team with leadership that has a track record of scaling companies from early stage to major exits.
  • Principles-Driven Culture: Work in a culture that values speed, ownership, and impact - what most companies achieve in 90 days, we do in 45.
  • Comprehensive Compensation Package: Competitive salary, equity, and robust benefits package, including paid health, vision, dental, and disability coverage.

Base Compensation Range for New York City: $336,000 - $399,000
*The posted range reflects the base salary for this role across the market ranges for each location. Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal leveling, and market conditions, and will be offered within the stated range in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws.
