Gravitas is mission-driven and committed to helping students grow in knowledge, skill, and character for lives of service and leadership. Role SummaryThe Gravitas part-time Science faculty position is a teaching and mentoring role focused on the intellectual and spiritual formation of students in a live, relational online environment. Part-time faculty teach between one and four live courses with classes meeting twice per week for 80 minutes each.Beyond live instruction, faculty invest meaningfully in students through thoughtful preparation, timely and substantive feedback, and availability outside of class. Part-time Science faculty also contribute to the life of the Gravitas community by collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development and professional growth, and by supporting student activities and clubs as needed. Current year-long class section openings include:Chemistry - Wednesday & Friday, 9:26-10:46 am US EasternChemistry - Wednesday & Friday, 12:30-1:50 pm US EasternKey ResponsibilitiesProvide both synchronous and asynchronous instruction and support for assigned sections each termPrepare and deliver engaging live online instruction in Science coursesGrade student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedbackMaintain clear and consistent communication with students and familiesContribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Gravitas curriculumParticipate in faculty meetings and collaborative initiatives as requestedAssist with occasional student activitiesQualificationsA Master's degree in Science or a related field or Science educationMinimum of three years of teaching experience, including online instructionExcellent organizational skills and ability to meet grading deadlinesStrong work ethic, high energy, and a demonstrated ability to connect with teenagers in an online learning environmentExcellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to respond quickly to all communicationsEagerness to serve in a faith-based learning environment that emphasizes faithful Christian scholarship and character formationHigh proficiency with technology, including the ability to learn and wisely utilize a learning management system, online teaching and learning tools, Google Workspace, Zoom, and artificial intelligenceConsistent and dependable high speed internet accessExperience working as part of a collaborative team of teachers, openness to providing and receiving feedback as part of a culture of transparencyAbility to interact professionally with parents and school community membersCultural awareness and sensitivity, recognizing that our students come from all over the worldDemonstrated commitment to professional growth and lifelong learningMaturity, judgment, and stability appropriate for a demanding positionCandidates must be eligible to work in the United States and maintain a permanent U.S. addressDue to the high volume of applications for Gravitas positions, please note that our team is unable to respond to calls and emails about our openings.
