What is a remote Catia designer?

Remote Catia Designers are professionals who use CATIA, a leading computer-aided design (CAD) software, to create, modify, and analyze 3D models and engineering drawings from a remote location. They collaborate with engineering teams, often in industries like automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing, to develop complex product designs and prototypes. Working remotely allows them to contribute to projects from anywhere, using digital communication and collaboration tools. Their expertise in CATIA helps companies streamline design processes and enhance product quality without requiring on-site presence.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote Catia designer?

To thrive as a Remote Catia Designer, you need strong 3D modeling skills, proficiency in engineering design principles, and typically a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Expertise in CATIA software, familiarity with CAD standards, and sometimes certification in CATIA or related platforms are commonly required. Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective remote communication skills help designers collaborate with distributed teams and clients. These skills ensure the delivery of precise, innovative designs and successful project outcomes in a virtual work environment.

How does a remote Catia designer typically collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders across different locations?

As a Remote Catia Designer, you'll frequently collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other designers via digital communication tools such as video conferencing, screen sharing, and collaborative CAD platforms. Regular virtual meetings are held to review design progress, discuss technical challenges, and ensure alignment with project requirements. Clear documentation and version control are essential, as you will be sharing and updating complex 3D models with teams in various time zones. This remote structure requires strong communication skills and proactive engagement to maintain productivity and integration with the broader team.

What is the difference between Remote Catia Designer vs Remote SolidWorks Designer?

AspectRemote Catia DesignerRemote SolidWorks Designer
Required CredentialsCATIA certification, CAD design experienceSolidWorks certification, CAD design experience
Work EnvironmentPrimarily aerospace, automotive, and industrial sectorsPrimarily manufacturing, product design, and engineering sectors
Employer & Industry UsageUsed by aerospace and automotive companies worldwideUsed by manufacturing and product development firms
Search & Comparison IntentPeople comparing CAD design tools for specific industriesPeople evaluating CAD software options for product design

Remote Catia Designers and Remote SolidWorks Designers both require CAD expertise and industry-specific knowledge. While Catia is favored in aerospace and automotive sectors, SolidWorks is popular in manufacturing and product design. The choice depends on the industry focus and software certification, but both roles involve remote CAD design work in engineering environments.

Job description

We are seeking experienced Structural Stress Engineers, Structural Design Engineers, and Systems Engineers to support advanced aerospace programs. Multiple opportunities are available across these engineering disciplines. Candidates do not need experience in all three areas; we are seeking engineers with strong expertise within their respective discipline.

The ideal candidates will bring hands-on aerospace experience supporting aircraft structures and/or systems, with experience working with metallic materials, composite materials, or both. Primary aircraft structure experience is strongly preferred.

Opportunities are available onsite in Wichita, Kansas and Falcon Hill, Utah, as well as remote positions depending on the specific program and engineering discipline.

Structural Design Engineering

Structural Design Engineers will support the development, modification, and integration of aircraft structural components and assemblies.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Design and develop aircraft structural components, assemblies, and installations.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Support metallic and composite aircraft structures, with primary structure experience preferred.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Develop and modify 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Evaluate structural designs for manufacturability, installation, maintainability, and integration.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Support design changes, modifications, repairs, and engineering investigations.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Collaborate with Stress, Systems, Manufacturing, and other engineering organizations.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Utilize CATIA V5 and SolidWorks in support of design activities.

Structural Stress Engineering

Structural Stress Engineers will perform analysis and substantiation of aircraft structures supporting new designs, modifications, repairs, and program requirements.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Perform structural analysis of metallic and composite aircraft structures.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Evaluate primary structural components and assemblies.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Perform static strength, fatigue, durability, and damage-tolerance analysis as applicable.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Support structural sizing, design optimization, modifications, and repairs.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Develop engineering calculations, reports, and structural substantiation documentation.

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Perform finite element analysis using ANSYS and/or Abaqus.
