Global Water Center

Charleston, SC • Remote

Job description

Salary:

ABOUT GLOBAL WATER CENTER

At Global Water Center (GWC), we believe everyone deserves access to safely managed water. Yet without sustainable water systems, this goal remains out of reach. That is why GWC focuses on capacity development, technical assistance, and collaborationequipping leaders to create lasting solutions to the global water crisis.

To address the critical funding gap facing rural water systems, GWC launched Carbon 4 Safe Water (C4SW), an innovative carbon credit platform. C4SW helps safe water partners navigate the complex process of developing and certifying carbon credit projects, enabling them to generate revenue through the voluntary carbon market (and in selective cases the compliance market) to support the longevity and scalability of safe water systems.

C4SWs work environment is fast-paced, dynamic, and highly collaborative. Candidates should be comfortable working in an early-stage environment, balancing the need for flexibility, structure, and procedure. See more at www.globalwatercenter.org

THE OPPORTUNITY

We specialize in connecting resources, providing support, and enabling a comprehensive collaboration strategy. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Carbon Credit Program Associate to join our dynamic team and drive our carbon financing practice.

The Carbon Credit Program Associate is responsible for supporting C4SW, the carbon program unit within GWC, in delivering consulting services to WASH sector project developers to facilitate their access to the carbon markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide project management and consulting support for client engagements on carbon registry-specific deliverables including project design documentation and registration, developing baseline scenarios, conducting stakeholder consultations, evidencing project additionality, arranging for and supporting third-party audits, and advising on monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) functions.

Imperative to support clients and the C4SW team, maintaining an up-to-date and working knowledge of applicable carbon standards registry requirements, with emphasis on Gold Standard.

Maintain an up-to-date and working knowledge of carbon standards associated methodologies and tools, for the purposes of additionality analysis, data analysis to be applied to emissions reductions calculations, emissions reductions equations, sampling requirements, monitoring requirements, and VVB expectations.

Advance C4SWs initiative of the Carbon Aggregator Platform (CAP) by utilizing and maintaining project management systems, digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV) tools, and mechanisms for financial projections and tracking.

Design and develop procedures, best practices, and training for internal and client use, including course delivery of the carbon accelerator course as part of the carbon aggregator platform (CAP) program developed by C4SW.

Support the evaluation and quantification of carbon credit economics, including financial projection and modeling, emission tonnage quantification and projection, and assessment of financial risk and exposure.

Engage with external stakeholders, including regulators, partners, verification bodies, vendors, and industry partners to ensure compliance and satisfaction of conditions of precedent.

Support senior leadership on carbon credit strategies including development of other potential carbon-related revenue streams from safe drinking water (SDW) and allied projects and proactive research to identify market trends and new emerging opportunities.
