Job description

We're building something big. We want you in early.
Pathways is a fast growing, venture-backed climate tech company building the data infrastructure that makes sustainable construction possible. The built environment accounts for nearly 40% of global carbon emissions, and most of the construction industry still lacks the tools to reliably measure impact. We're changing that.
We're a small team who care deeply about the problems we're solving, move fast, and set ambitious targets. We've raised $10M to date, backed by leading investors like Sorensen, Positive Ventures, and strategic partners from within the industry, and doubled in size last year. The market is moving and we're scaling to meet it.
The future of construction doesn't have to choose between sustainability and progress; we're building the tools to prove it. Join us.
What You'll Do:
You'll be the technical authority inside Pathways. You'll be the person who sets the standard for what defensible LCA looks like across our platform, our customers, and our verifier relationships. This is a high-ownership, high-precision role where the quality of your work directly determines the quality of what we ship.
  • Own the standards: EN 15804+A2, ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14025, the PCRs. Translate clause-level requirements into modeling decisions, product behavior, and customer-facing guidance. Keep the methodology current as the standards evolve.
  • Manage technical relationships: Work directly with concrete producers and their LCA leads. Review their models, sanity-check their inputs, turn plant-specific quirks - mix designs, plant boundaries, SCM sourcing - into clean, defensible LCA structures inside the platform.
  • Lead verifier interactions: Defend modeling choices, close findings, and turn revisions around fast. Verifier rounds are a thing to nail.
  • Shape the platform: Partner closely with Product and Engineering. Translate standards into product requirements, review implementations, argue for the right defaults. The platform's accuracy is yours to defend.
  • Run your portfolio: Multiple workstreams in parallel, hard deadlines, no project manager shielding you -- and you don't want one.
What We're Looking For:
  • 5-8 years of LCA experience: Deep fluency in EN 15804+A2, ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14025, and the relevant PCRs. Construction-materials background - concrete, cement, aggregates, or SCMs - is a hard requirement.
  • Real project management: You've run 5+ concurrent technical workstreams against hard deadlines, ideally cut at a top-tier consultancy (Big 4, sustainability/engineering, or LCA specialist firm) or as a freelance practitioner who survived without a safety net.
  • Shipped EPDs: We are not interested in someone who has read EN 15804. We want someone who has shipped EPDs through verification under it.
  • Extreme attention to detail: You catch the off-by-one in a transport distance and the missing sub-module before a verifier does. Precision in inputs, units, and documentation is non-negotiable.
  • Translation between stakeholders: You move fluidly between standards-speak, engineer-speak, and plant-operator-speak without losing meaning.
  • High-agency mindset: You're comfortable operating with autonomy, making calls, and owning outcomes in a fast-moving environment.
  • Comfortable working across time zones: We serve customers globally and our team spans Copenhagen and New York.
  • Based in New York: NYC based or willing to relocate
  • Mission-driven: Decarbonizing the built environment is part of why this work matters to you, not just a line on the website.

Compensation/Benefits:
  • Salary: $110,000 - $135,000 base + equity
  • Benefits: Health insurance, 401k, unlimited PTO

This is an in-person, 4-day/week in the office role located in New York City.
