What is a remote capstone?

Remote capstone jobs are project-based roles or assignments that can be completed online, typically as part of a final project in an academic program or professional training. These positions allow students or professionals to demonstrate their skills by working on real-world problems for organizations, all while working remotely. Remote capstone jobs often involve research, analysis, or development projects and may be completed individually or in teams. They provide valuable experience, networking opportunities, and a portfolio piece for future employment.

Job description

Crimson Education is the world’s leading college admissions consulting firm, with over 1,490 Ivy League offers and 2,410 to the US Top 15. We help ambitious students gain admission to the world’s top universities through expert-led guidance and proven, data-driven strategies. Crimson students are 7x more likely to get into the Ivy League than their peers. We were recently featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.
Crimson is the only college admissions consultancy that brings together:

  • Former Ivy League and Top 20 admissions officers to rigorously review and refine applications

  • Professors and PhD teaching fellows from leading universities to guide students through original, independent research — with pathways to selective peer-reviewed publication or conference presentation

  • Past ISEF winners and judges who coach students to compete for state, national, and international science fair awards

  • Capstone project mentors who help students design and scale leadership initiatives with real-world impact, measurable outcomes, and credible external validation

We’re backed by leading VC firms, including Tiger Global, Heal Partners, IceHouse Ventures, and Movac, and recently closed a USD $40M Series D funding round at a USD $640M valuation. We now operate across 21 markets worldwide, including the US, Canada, UK, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, and New Zealand.

About Crimson Capstone

Our revamped Capstone Program gives students the opportunity to transform their interests into purposeful, high-impact projects across six pathways:

  • Education & Programs

  • Software & Technology

  • Engineering & Innovation

  • Policy & Social Impact

  • Arts & Media

  • Ventures & Business

Each pathway is structured around three progressive outcome levels, designed to reflect a student’s journey from exploration and foundational execution to increasingly sophisticated, independent, and impact-driven work. As students advance, they are challenged to deepen their expertise, take greater ownership of their projects, and demonstrate tangible outcomes within their chosen field.

The Role

As a Capstone Mentor, you’ll guide students through their personalized project journey, helping them transform their ideas into meaningful, well-executed initiatives. You’ll support students in developing their vision, building and executing strategic plans, and progressing toward their pathway- and tier-specific outcomes.

Through regular mentoring sessions, document reviews, progress checkpoints, and coordination of expert consultations, you’ll provide the structure and guidance students need to stay on track. Your role is to help students take increasing ownership of their projects while ensuring they deliver work that demonstrates substantive growth, leadership, and meaningful impact - both within the project itself and as part of their broader college application journey.

What are the main responsibilities for this role?
  • Mentor students through regular sessions, structured checkpoints, and ongoing project guidance.

  • Guide project development from initial proposal through execution, milestone completion, and final submission.

  • Track student progress against pathway- and tier-specific outcomes, providing timely feedback and support to keep projects on track.

  • Coordinate expert consultations and external resources, helping students access the expertise, networks, and opportunities needed to strengthen their projects.

  • Support students in developing meaningful, impact-driven projects that demonstrate ownership, leadership, and real-world outcomes.

  • Collaborate with Strategists and Admin teams to ensure a coordinated and seamless student experience.

Who You Are?
  • Strong academic or professional background in a field relevant to one or more of our six Capstone pathways.

  • Top 30 U.S. university or Oxbridge degree strongly preferred, though exceptional candidates with strong industry experience will also be considered.

  • For candidates in Australia, New Zealand, or Latin America, a U.S. educational background is not required. We particularly value strong industry experience, project management skills, and a track record of delivering projects.

  • Resourceful and well-connected, with the ability to identify opportunities, leverage networks, and help students access relevant people, tools, and resources.

  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to guide students from idea development through execution.

  • A genuine passion for mentorship, leadership development, and helping students create meaningful, high-impact work.

  • Available for a minimum 5 hours per week
