RRC is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer II - Substation to help us build the future of both U.S. and Canada energy production from both remote work locations and any one of our U.S. or Canadian office locations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and review physical substation design deliverables including equipment layouts, grounding systems, bus configurations, conduit and cable schedules, and general arrangement drawings
  • Perform engineering calculations to support substation design (grounding analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop, equipment ratings)
  • Support substation equipment selection and vendor drawing review  
  • Prepare and review construction design packages and technical documentation
  • Coordinate with internal teams including engineers, designers, and project managers to support project execution and resolve issues
  • Perform quality control and quality checking on project deliverables, including drawings and studies 
  • Support multiple projects while maintaining schedule and quality standards
  • Ensure designs comply with industry codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC, ANSI)
  • Occasionally travel and complete site visits

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation required; Professional Engineering registration license or ability to obtain license 
  • 2–5+ years of experience in substation engineering, with focus on physical design
  • Experience preparing construction documents, calculations, and reviewing drawings
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or electrical analysis software (ETAP, CYME, SKM, PSCAD)
  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (IEEE, NESC, NEC)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
