What does a remote cabinet maker do?

A remote cabinet maker designs, constructs, and assembles cabinets and other woodwork for homes and businesses, often working from a workshop rather than on-site. They use digital communication tools to collaborate with clients, share design plans, and manage orders remotely. Cabinet makers may use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create custom cabinetry and coordinate with contractors or installers for delivery and installation. This role requires strong woodworking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while meeting client specifications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote cabinet maker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Cabinet Maker, you need strong woodworking skills, attention to detail, and experience in cabinet design, often supported by vocational training or apprenticeships. Familiarity with design software like CAD, CNC machinery, and woodworking tools is typically required. Excellent time management, problem-solving, and clear virtual communication make someone stand out in this position. These competencies ensure precision, quality craftsmanship, and effective collaboration with clients and teams from a remote setting.

How does collaboration typically work for a remote cabinet maker who is part of a distributed design and production team?

As a remote cabinet maker, collaboration is often facilitated through digital tools such as CAD software, project management platforms, and video conferencing. You'll work closely with designers, project managers, and sometimes clients to review plans, troubleshoot designs, and coordinate production schedules. Clear communication is essential, as instructions and updates are shared virtually rather than in person. While you'll handle hands-on fabrication in your own workshop, teamwork and regular check-ins ensure consistency and quality across distributed projects.

Can you make good money as a remote cabinet maker?

Remote cabinet makers can earn competitive wages, especially if they have specialized skills, certifications, and experience. Income varies based on project complexity, client base, and whether they work independently or for a company, with some earning a substantial income through custom work and efficient production. However, since cabinet making often involves physical work and access to tools or workshops, fully remote work may be limited or require a hybrid approach.

Lead Carpenter

Cornerstone Contractors & Property Management LLC

Location: Upper Valley Region (NH & VT)

Build More Than Houses. Build a Career.

Cornerstone Contractors & Property Management is a growing residential renovation company that values quality craftsmanship, accountability, and professionalism. We don't believe in chaos, shortcuts, or micromanagement. We believe in hiring skilled people, giving them the tools to succeed, and trusting them to produce exceptional work.

We're looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter who takes pride in their craft, leads by example, and can keep projects moving with confidence.

If you're the type of carpenter who naturally sees the next step before anyone has to ask, we'd like to meet you.

What You'll Do

As our Lead Carpenter, you'll spend most of your day building alongside the crew while helping keep projects organized, efficient, and on schedule.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform high-quality rough and finish carpentry
  • Install framing, trim, doors, windows, cabinetry, flooring, tile, and structural components

  • Coordinate with subcontractors to maintain workflow
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners when needed
  • Ensure materials and tools are available and organized
  • Document project progress using company software and photos
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional jobsite every day

What We're Looking For

We're searching for someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do.

You should be someone who:

  • Takes ownership of your work
  • Thinks ahead and plans efficiently
  • Produces high-quality craftsmanship
  • Communicates clearly with the team
  • Leads without ego
  • Solves problems instead of creating them

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of residential carpentry experience
  • Leadership experience supervising or directing crews
  • Strong skills in framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry, trim, tile, and structural repairs
  • Ability to read blueprints and construction documents
  • Comfortable using smartphones, apps, and digital timekeeping
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying weather conditions
  • OSHA and jobsite safety knowledge preferred

What Success Looks Like

Successful Lead Carpenters at Cornerstone:

  • Show up on time every day
  • Take pride in producing exceptional work
  • Keep jobs organized and moving efficiently
  • Leave every jobsite cleaner than they found it
  • Communicate issues before they become problems
  • Help develop less experienced team members
  • Represent the company professionally with clients

Why Work With Cornerstone?

We are building a company where skilled tradespeople can build long-term careers—not just work another job.

We offer:

  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Year-round, full-time work
  • Professional, organized job sites
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • High-quality tools and systems
  • Supportive leadership that values craftsmanship
  • A team focused on doing things the right way

Ready to Join Our Team?

If you're an experienced carpenter who values quality, leadership, and professionalism, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and become part of a company that's raising the standard for residential renovations throughout the Upper Valley.
