Job description

Position OverviewWe are seeking a Business Development Specialist who is ready to roll up their sleeves and drive top-line growth in a fast-moving small business environment. This individual will be a strategic hunter-identifying, shaping, and pursuing new opportunities within the federal marketplace, with a strong emphasis on DoD, DHS, and Intelligence Community sectors.
The ideal candidate brings a blend of entrepreneurial energy, market intelligence, and capture savvy to help Mission One scale our footprint, strengthen partnerships, and win high-value contracts.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute targeted growth strategies aligned with Mission One's core capabilities and federal priorities.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities through market research, relationship building, and competitive intelligence.
  • Lead capture efforts from opportunity identification through proposal development, partnering closely with leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government customers, primes, and teaming partners.
  • Support proposal strategy, solution shaping, and pricing strategies in collaboration with internal SMEs.
  • Monitor and track relevant contracting vehicles (e.g., SAM.gov, GWACs, IDIQs, OTAs) to ensure strategic positioning.
  • Represent Mission One at industry events, conferences, and networking engagements to expand visibility and brand equity.
  • Contribute to pipeline development, forecasting, and CRM tracking to enable data-driven decision-making.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of business development, capture management, or proposal experience within the defense or federal contracting ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying, qualifying, and winning new business.
  • Strong understanding of federal acquisition processes and government contracting.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate effectively in a lean, fast-paced small business environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Existing relationships within DoD, DHS, or Intelligence Community.
  • Experience working with SDVOSB, 8(a), HUBZone, or other set-aside programs.
  • Prior experience supporting proposal development (technical or pricing).
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.
