They often use building management software to analyze data, predict maintenance needs, and improve system performance. This role is essential for reducing costs, enhancing sustainability, and maintaining occupant comfort without requiring on-site presence.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Building Automation position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Building Automation professional, you need expertise in HVAC, electrical, and mechanical control systems, typically supported by a background in engineering or building technologies. Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), remote monitoring platforms, and relevant certifications such as Niagara AX or Siemens Desigo is essential. Why This Role Is Worth a Conversation

If you've worked in building automation, BAS, or smart building integration and want to move beyond just supporting systems - this is a chance to design full-scale, enterprise-level solutions that shape how buildings operate, connect, and perform.

This is a client-facing, solution architecture role where your expertise directly influences how modern buildings become smarter, more efficient, and more connected.

About the Opportunity (Confidential Client)

We are partnering with a global leader in energy management, automation, and smart infrastructure supporting enterprise clients across commercial, industrial, healthcare, and education sectors.

This organization is at the forefront of:

  • Smart building ecosystems
  • Energy optimization & sustainability
  • IoT-driven infrastructure and automation

You'll be part of a team driving real-world impact - not just maintaining systems, but designing the future of intelligent buildings.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Design end-to-end smart building solutions across BAS, HVAC, lighting, security, and energy systems
  • Work directly with enterprise clients to understand needs and translate into scalable technical solutions
  • Partner with sales and engineering teams to ensure feasibility and alignment
  • Lead solution architecture, technical design, and integration strategy
  • Support proposals, presentations, and cost estimates for complex projects
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on smart building technologies and trends

What Makes This Role Different
  • Architecture vs. support - you design the solution, not just maintain it
  • High visibility - direct impact with clients and leadership
  • Remote flexibility with meaningful project ownership
  • Work across multiple industries and large-scale projects
  • Be part of the shift toward connected, energy-efficient buildings

What They're Looking For
  • 5+ years in Building Automation (BAS), smart buildings, or systems integration
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, lighting, energy management, and building systems
  • Experience with BMS platforms, integration protocols, and IoT-enabled environments
  • Ability to work client-facing and translate technical solutions into business value
  • Background in engineering, computer science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Additional Details
  • Salary: $100K-$125K + 10% bonus
  • Location: Remote (East Coast preferred)
  • Travel: As needed (primarily East Coast)
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Direct Hire
  • Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card (no sponsorship)
