As a Mental Health Counselor at Inner Strength Counseling Services, your day-to-day tasks will include:

• Conducting initial assessments to evaluate clients' mental health status, identifying needs, and establishing therapeutic relationships.
• Developing personalized treatment plans that reflect clients’ unique goals and challenges while incorporating evidence-based strategies.
• Facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions, providing clients with tools and coping strategies to manage their mental health effectively.
• Regularly monitoring client progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure positive outcomes.
• Providing referrals to psychiatrists or other specialists when clients require additional support, maintaining a holistic approach to treatment.

You will engage with a diverse client population facing a variety of challenges, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and eating disorders. This role requires a strong commitment to cultural competence, allowing you to effectively meet the unique needs of clients from various backgrounds.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid license as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of New York.
• A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience working with a diverse client base.
• A comprehensive understanding of mental health disorders, treatment modalities, and a commitment to ethical practices in therapy.
• Strong interpersonal skills, accompanied by the capacity to foster rapport and trust with clients.

Although no specific previous experience is strictly required, candidates with the following competencies will be preferred:

• Experience delivering therapy in both individual and group settings, using culturally responsive approaches.
• Proven crisis intervention skills and the ability to maintain calm in potentially high-pressure situations.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and related computer applications.
• A demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
