• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly patients to accurately identify and understand their unique needs.
• Provide individualized and group counseling sessions, helping seniors address emotional obstacles associated with aging, loss, and life transitions.
• Work alongside healthcare professionals to develop and implement tailored care plans that encompass the full spectrum of each patient’s health requirements.
• Educate family members and care staff on emotional support strategies to improve the quality of life for geriatric residents.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for patients and families coping with end-of-life issues, ensuring compassionate support is available during these difficult times.
• Implement cognitive stimulation activities and mental health interventions that aim to boost cognitive function and emotional resilience among elderly patients.

The primary focus of this position is on elderly individuals coping with age-related mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, and adjustment disorders related to altering life circumstances. As a mental health counselor, you will play a vital role in helping seniors foster coping mechanisms, enhance their emotional well-being, and improve their overall quality of life.

• A master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) certification.
• Recruitment will favor candidates with a minimum of 4 years of direct experience in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based practices that enhance mental well-being among older adults.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effectively engaging with elderly clients and their families.
• Strong empathy and cultural sensitivity to afford appropriate support to seniors from diverse backgrounds.

• Additional certification or training focused on geriatric mental health.
• Experience employing therapeutic models that cater specifically to the elderly, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness strategies.
• A background in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in outpatient settings to optimize patient care.
