Remote Behavioral Health Coordinator information

What is a remote behavioral health coordinator?

A Remote Behavioral Health Coordinator is a professional who manages and coordinates behavioral health services, such as mental health or substance abuse care, for individuals or groups while working from a remote location. They often work with clients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to ensure patients receive appropriate care, schedule appointments, and track progress. Their duties may include support, case management, and resource coordination, all conducted virtually via phone, email, or video conferencing. This role is vital for increasing access to mental health services, especially for those in underserved or rural areas.

How does a remote behavioral health coordinator typically collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient care?

As a Remote Behavioral Health Coordinator, you will frequently work with a range of professionals including clinicians, case managers, social workers, and psychiatrists. Collaboration often takes place via secure digital platforms, regular video conferences, and coordinated care plans to ensure consistent and comprehensive patient support. Clear communication and strong organizational skills are essential, as you will be responsible for relaying patient information, tracking progress, and facilitating referrals or follow-ups. This teamwork-focused environment helps ensure patients receive holistic and continuous behavioral health care, even when team members are geographically dispersed.

To thrive as a Remote Behavioral Health Coordinator, you need a background in psychology, social work, or behavioral health, often supported by a relevant bachelor's or master's degree and professional certification such as LCSW, LPC, or equivalent. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, case management software, and electronic health record (EHR) systems is typically required. Strong communication, organizational skills, and empathy are essential for building rapport with clients and managing care remotely. About Colla Health

We help people with cancer improve their quality of life by providing behavioral healthcare to the 17 million cancer patients in the US as an extension of their medical treatment.

One out of every three cancer patients has a diagnosed mental health condition but only 25% of them receive treatment for their mental health challenges, exacerbating quality of life, worsening health outcomes, and increasing their total cost of care to the system. We are on a mission to provide relevant, accessible behavioral health at the point of care that is embedded within a patient's oncology practice. We are backed by a premier venture capital firm and are building a world-class team of clinicians, technologists, and healthcare operations builders passionate about helping cancer patients improve their quality of life.

We have built a behavioral health services and technology company to support patients' mental health alongside their physical health treatment plans. Our first offering deploys virtual mental health services using Collaborative Care, an evidence-based behavioral health care model. We will scale this virtual care model using technology, and build the foundations to drive outcomes focused on value-based care.
