Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Astera Behavioral Health, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting both individual and group therapy sessions for clients and their families, focusing on challenges such as alcohol abuse, trauma, grief, family conflicts, and supportive adjustments during separations or divorces.
  • Formulating comprehensive treatment plans tailored to meet the specific needs of each client, ensuring that families are actively involved in the therapeutic process.
  • Employing therapeutic techniques from evidence-based practices to address issues pertaining to communication difficulties, blended family dynamics, and job-related stress.
  • Documenting and tracking client progress through detailed case notes and assessments, adhering to organizational policies and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Participating in regular training sessions and supervision meetings to ensure professional growth and adherence to best practices in therapy and ethical care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your work will predominantly focus on adults and adolescents dealing with diverse mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and family disruptions. A large portion of your client interactions will involve conducting therapy for couples experiencing communication breakdowns and individuals adjusting to significant life changes like separation or divorce. Your empathetic and supportive approach will be crucial in fostering trust and rapport with clients from varied backgrounds.

Qualifications
  • A valid and current state license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • A master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to nurture a safe and trusting environment throughout the therapeutic process.
  • Demonstrated empathy, understanding, and a non-judgmental attitude toward clients' experiences, promoting an inclusive space for all.
