What does a remote battery systems engineer do?

A Remote Battery Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, testing, and managing battery systems for various applications, such as electric vehicles, renewable energy storage, or consumer electronics, while working remotely. They focus on optimizing battery performance, ensuring safety, and integrating battery technology with other hardware and software systems. Their job may also involve analyzing data, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams using virtual communication tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote battery systems engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Battery Systems Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical engineering, battery chemistry, and energy storage systems, typically supported by a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with battery management systems (BMS), simulation software (like MATLAB/Simulink), and industry certifications such as IEEE or SAE standards is often required. Strong analytical thinking, effective remote communication, and problem-solving skills help you excel in a distributed work environment. These skills and tools are critical for designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting battery systems safely and efficiently from a remote setting.

Job description

Your opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and vision-driven Lead Enterprise Systems Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business objectives, solution architecture, and hands-on execution. The ideal candidate remains actively involved in coding (roughly 70-80% of the time) while serving as the primary technical point of contact for project stakeholders.

What you'll do

Technical Vision & Solution Architecture

  • Lead the architectural design, development, and deployment of resilient, scalable solutions in our Salesforce Platform for both Sales & CPQ.
  • Translate business and product requirements into clear, technical roadmaps and system specifications.
  • Establish engineering best practices, design patterns, coding standards, and testing strategies.

 Hands-On Execution & Quality Assurance

  • Write clean, maintainable, and highly efficient APEX code alongside the Salesforce development team.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure quality, security, and performance.
  • Manage technical debt, proactively balancing speed of delivery with long-term system health.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide technical guidance, direct support, and actionable feedback to Salesforce engineers.
  • Mentor team members to foster technical growth and career advancement.
  • Lead agile ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, technical grooming, post-mortems).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Technical Managers, Enterprise Architects, and other Technical Leaders to align on scope, timelines, and technical feasibility.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Drive operational excellence by improving CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and incident response.

This role requires

  • Experience: 5+ years of software development experience in Salesforce/CPQ.
  • Core Tech Stack: APEX Triggers & Classes, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Salesforce Configurations & Workflow, Salesforce Security & Administration
  • System Design: API design, JSON structures, Boundary System Architecture.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Familiarity with Dev Ops GearSet platform (preferred).
  • Agile Expertise: Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, GitHub/GitLab).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong verbal and written communication, and a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset.

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience with Salesforce Communities (Portal) Architecture and design.
  • Understanding of modern security practices (OAuth, Integrated Apps, 3rd Party Connectors).
