Position SummaryHuron's Financial Advisory practice is building an applied AI capability to automate and enhance core restructuring workflows. This is a new position created to design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions that directly support engagement delivery and business development. The role is hands-on and output-oriented: the person in this seat will be writing code, building integrations, and deploying working applications.
This role requires someone who can operate at the intersection of software engineering and AI/ML application development. Financial advisory domain knowledge is a plus but not required. The ideal candidate is a builder who understands that the value of AI in professional services is measured by hours saved and errors prevented, not by model sophistication.Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Solution Design and Development

  • Design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI applications that automate structured professional workflows, including document processing, content generation, data extraction, and programmatic file creation (PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Develop and maintain Python-based orchestration pipelines that coordinate LLM API calls, document parsing, external system integrations, and formatted output generation.

  • Build multi-agent architectures for complex tasks requiring specialized, parallelized processing (e.g., quality control across formatting, numerical accuracy, grammar, and narrative consistency dimensions).

  • Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines for context-aware content selection from internal knowledge repositories.

Integration and Infrastructure

  • Build and maintain API integrations with enterprise platforms including Seismic (content management), Salesforce (CRM), AWS, and Microsoft Azure services.

  • Work within Huron's IT security and data governance framework to ensure all solutions comply with information security policies, particularly given the sensitivity of debtor financial data and court filings.

  • Deploy solutions using approved infrastructure (AWS, Azure, and internal compute environments) and establish CI/CD pipelines, version control, and monitoring for production applications. Navigate Huron's internal security review and tenant provisioning process to obtain and maintain approved cloud environments.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

  • Embed directly with Financial Advisory professionals and subject matter experts to deeply understand their workflows, identify automation opportunities, and translate business requirements into technical specifications. This means sitting alongside analysts and directors, learning how they work step by step, and iteratively refining solutions based on real-world usage and feedback.

  • Coordinate with Huron's Digital-AI team on platform approvals, architectural standards, and shared infrastructure. Evaluate centrally developed tools for applicability to Financial Advisory workflows and adapt where appropriate, while building practice-specific solutions independently where central tools do not yet exist.

  • Coordinate with parallel AI initiatives in other Huron practices (e.g., Corporate Finance) to share learnings, leverage existing infrastructure such as approved AWS tenants, and avoid duplicative effort.

  • Coordinate with IT, Salesforce administration, and Seismic administration teams to secure necessary API access, licensing, and technical prerequisites.

  • Document solutions, maintain technical runbooks, and build internal knowledge transfer materials to reduce single-point-of-failure risk.

Process Transformation

  • Apply structured process analysis to identify high-effort, repetitive, or error-prone activities and redesign them using automation, agentic AI, and workflow orchestration.

  • Own end-to-end delivery of AI-enabled process changes, including requirements definition, solution design, implementation, adoption support, and continuous optimization.

Delivery Oversight

  • Provide delivery leadership across AI initiatives, including prioritization, sequencing of work, and coordination across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Act as a point of accountability for solution outcomes, including realized efficiency gains, scalability, and operational sustainability.

Ongoing Optimization

  • Monitor deployed solutions for quality, accuracy, and cost efficiency. Tune prompts, chunking strategies, and agent configurations based on production performance data.

  • Stay current on developments in LLM capabilities, agent frameworks, and relevant tooling. Evaluate and recommend adoption of new tools or approaches where they offer material improvement.

  • Identify additional automation opportunities within the practice and propose new initiatives with scoped business cases.

Required Qualifications

  • 8-12 years of professional experience in software engineering, AI/ML application development, or a closely related technical role with demonstrated production deployments.

  • Strong proficiency in Python, including experience with API development, data processing pipelines, and file generation libraries (e.g., python-pptx, openpyxl, or equivalent).

  • Hands-on experience building applications that consume LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, or similar), including prompt engineering, structured output parsing, and context window management.

  • Experience with document processing: PDF parsing, OCR, text extraction from structured and semi-structured documents.

  • Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS (the practice's current deployment environment) and/or Microsoft Azure. Experience deploying applications, databases (OpenSearch, SQL), and LLM services within enterprise cloud tenants.

  • Familiarity with version control (Git), CI/CD practices, and production deployment workflows.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. This role requires translating between technical implementation details and business stakeholder language on a daily basis.

  • Demonstrated resilience and patience in navigating complex organizational environments. This role requires building trust with senior professionals who may be skeptical of AI-driven changes to their workflows. The successful candidate will need to manage ambiguity, work through internal processes to obtain approvals and resources, and persist through organizational friction without becoming discouraged.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services, professional services, or consulting environments. Candidates who understand restructuring, leveraged finance, or capital markets workflows will ramp significantly faster.

  • Experience with Salesforce API integration and/or Salesforce development (Apex, SOQL, REST/SOAP APIs).

  • Experience building multi-agent or agentic AI systems (e.g., using LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or custom orchestration frameworks).

  • Experience with RAG architectures, vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Azure Cognitive Search), and embedding-based retrieval systems.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI) for enterprise workflow automation and dashboarding.

  • Experience with Seismic or similar enterprise content management platforms and their APIs.

  • Background in data visualization, dashboard design, or business intelligence tooling.

  • Experience with AWS services (EC2, Lambda, OpenSearch, Bedrock, S3) in addition to or in lieu of Azure experience.

  • Experience coordinating with or managing external technology vendors and contract engineering teams to augment delivery capacity.

Clarifying Notes on Scope

This role is not a research position. The focus is on applied deployment of existing AI capabilities to solve defined business problems, not on advancing the state of the art in machine learning. Candidates whose primary interest is model training, fine-tuning, or foundational research may find the role too operationally focused.

This role is also not a general-purpose IT or data engineering position. While the person will interact with enterprise systems (Salesforce, Azure, Seismic), the core of the work is building AI-powered workflow automation tools for a specific practice, not managing infrastructure or supporting enterprise-wide IT operations.

The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time writing code, building integrations, testing outputs, and iterating with end users. They should be comfortable with ambiguity - the practice knows what outcomes it wants but expects this person to drive the technical approach.

Finally, this role is focused on accelerating delivery, not advocating for AI adoption. The practice has already committed to these initiatives and defined the target outcomes. The person in this seat is expected to build working tools that make professionals more efficient, not to evangelize AI or produce proofs of concept that never reach production. Candidates should be motivated by seeing their work used daily in live engagements.

The estimated base salary range for this job is $165,000 - $215,000. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that Huron reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron's annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron's pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $214,500 - $279,500. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron's benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future.
