Contact Government Services (CGS) is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting operations and financial management functions. This role is critical to ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight as we continue to grow. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in services-based organizations (legal, IT, or government contracting) and thrives in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, and monthly close
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of P&L and Balance Sheet reporting
  • Manage both cash and accrual accounting processes
  • Support annual audits and ensure compliance with GAAP standards
  • Lead end-of-year tax preparation and coordination
  • Maintain detailed financial records, including gross and net profit at global, project, and resource levels
  • Oversee invoice generation (approximately 300 invoices/month)
  • Manage treasury functions, including banking relationships, line of credit, and credit card programs
  • Develop and maintain cash flow and accrual projections for executive leadership
  • Provide financial analysis, identify trends, and highlight potential risks
  • Support multiple teams, projects, and customers simultaneously
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff
Qualifications
  • CPA required
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Prior experience as a Controller
  • Background in services industries (legal, IT, or government contracting preferred)
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks and Unanet
  • Proven experience supporting audits and ensuring GAAP compliance
  • Hands-on experience with A/R and A/P functions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-project financial environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities
Additional Requirements
  • Must be located in the DMV area
  • Ability to go in-office at least once per week (mail handling and administrative needs)
