Remote Backlog information

What is a remote backlog?

A Remote Backlog position typically refers to a role where an employee manages and organizes a list of pending tasks, projects, or issues remotely. These professionals track progress, prioritize tasks, and help ensure that work is completed efficiently, often using project management tools and collaborating with distributed teams. The backlog can include customer requests, product features, technical issues, or support tickets, depending on the organization. This role is common in software development, customer support, and project management environments. Remote Backlog specialists play a key role in keeping teams organized and ensuring that important work is addressed in a timely manner.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a backlog manager?

To thrive as a Backlog Manager, you need strong organizational skills, experience in agile methodologies, and a background in project management or business analysis. Familiarity with project management tools like Jira, Trello, or Asana, and certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM) are commonly required. Excellent communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills help you coordinate tasks and ensure alignment across teams. These skills are important to efficiently manage project priorities, ensure timely delivery, and support effective team collaboration in remote or distributed environments.

How do remote backlog team members typically collaborate with other departments to manage project priorities?

Remote Backlog professionals frequently coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as development, product management, and quality assurance, using online collaboration tools. Regular virtual meetings, clear documentation, and transparent communication channels are essential to keep everyone aligned on shifting priorities and deadlines. Effective collaboration also involves gathering feedback, refining tasks, and ensuring that backlog items are well-defined for smooth handoffs between remote teams. This environment requires strong organizational skills and proactive communication to overcome challenges such as time zone differences and varying workflows.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst for a 100% remote position supporting a large federal government healthcare modernization project. This role will support the design, development, and implementation of an AI Patient Health Data Summarization capability within the Joint Longitudinal Viewer (JLV) Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Widget. The Senior Business Analyst will translate complex clinical, business, and technical needs into actionable requirements while analyzing C-CDA clinical documents, healthcare interoperability standards, and AI-generated patient insights.

The Senior Business Analyst will work within an Agile, multidisciplinary team alongside clinical stakeholders, Product Owners, architects, developers, data and AI teams, QA engineers, and government stakeholders. The role requires close collaboration across clinical and technical teams to ensure AI-generated summaries accurately represent patient information, remain traceable to source data, and integrate effectively into clinician workflows.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze, and document business, technical, and clinical requirements for AI-driven patient health data summarization, including detailed user stories, use cases, process flows, functional specifications, acceptance criteria, and measurable success metrics.
  • Analyze and interpret C-CDA clinical documents, including CCDs, discharge summaries, progress notes, History and Physical documents, and procedure notes, and map clinical information to applicable healthcare interoperability standards and terminologies.
  • Develop and maintain requirements, data mapping, and traceability matrices connecting clinical data sources, business needs, functional requirements, testing activities, and deployment artifacts while evaluating data quality, completeness, and normalization requirements.
  • Define requirements, validation criteria, risk mitigation strategies, and traceability standards for AI-generated clinical summaries and collaborate with clinicians, data scientists, engineers, and architects to evaluate clinical relevance, accuracy, transparency, usability, and responsible AI practices.
  • Facilitate requirements workshops and stakeholder sessions, serve as a liaison between clinical, business, government, and technical teams, and communicate findings and recommendations through project documentation, presentations, and executive briefings.
  • Partner with QA and development teams to create test scenarios and validation criteria, support User Acceptance Testing and defect triage, verify delivered functionality against requirements, and participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and stakeholder reviews.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Informatics, Health Information Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting healthcare IT systems.
  • Strong experience analyzing clinical data and healthcare interoperability standards, including C-CDA, HL7, USCDI, and healthcare data exchange concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting complex business, functional, technical, and clinical requirements, including user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data mappings, and requirements traceability.
  • Experience analyzing healthcare data quality, clinical document structures, data integration requirements, and complex clinical information such as medications, allergies, problems, laboratory results, procedures, and care plans.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex clinical and technical concepts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within Agile software development environments and across multidisciplinary teams of clinicians, Product Owners, architects, developers, engineers, and QA professionals.

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), or other federal healthcare programs, with familiarity with JLV or similar clinical viewing platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of FHIR APIs, SMART on FHIR, CDS Hooks, Clinical Decision Support platforms, and clinical terminologies such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, and RxNorm.
  • Experience supporting AI or machine learning-enabled healthcare solutions, responsible AI and data governance practices, SQL/data analysis, Azure DevOps or Jira, requirements management tools, AI-assisted requirements validation and traceability, or AI-enabled software testing and quality assurance activities.

Security Clearance Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • All selected candidates must successfully complete a background check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including required fingerprinting, when required for the position.

Benefits

  • Medical/Dental/Vision
  • 401k with Employer Match
  • PTO + Federal Holidays
  • Corporate Laptop
  • Training Opportunities
