As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Medstar Behavioral Health Center, your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive assessments and developing tailored treatment plans in collaboration with clients.
• Providing crisis intervention strategies, including pre-crisis planning and behavior guidelines based on individual needs.
• Utilizing evidence-based screening tools to evaluate client progress and treatment efficacy, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
• Documenting clinical interactions promptly and thoroughly to maintain compliance with state regulations.
• Collaborating actively with interdisciplinary teams to implement positive behavior support plans tailored to individual clients.
• Engaging in ongoing supervision and professional development initiatives, including training sessions, workshops, and state meetings.
• Establishing and nurturing partnerships with relevant service systems and community organizations to enhance program outreach and impact.
• Representing the agency at community and professional forums to advocate for the mental health needs of our clients.
• Continuously pursuing personal growth by attending relevant conferences and workshops within the mental health field.

The ideal candidate will be dedicated to working with a diverse client population that includes individuals dealing with emotional distress, substance use disorders, developmental disabilities, and individuals recovering from brain injuries. Your role will be vital in developing personalized care plans and building meaningful relationships while fostering an environment where clients feel understood and supported throughout their recovery.

The qualified candidate should possess:

• A Master’s Degree in a behavioral health field that meets licensing standards.
• An independent LMHC license in good standing issued by the state of Massachusetts.
• Proficient documentation skills to ensure effective clinical record-keeping and reporting.
• Strong ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to express ideas effectively and engage clients.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills grounded in professional ethics and practices.

While not required, preferred candidates will have experience working in outpatient settings, familiarity with electronic health record systems, and a background in trauma-informed care approaches. Experience in applying evidence-based therapeutic modalities will also be a distinct advantage.
