Armstrong Fluid Technology

Toronto, ON • Remote

Full-time

Job description

Imagine working at the forefront of innovation in fluid-flow technology, with over 1,400 colleagues across the globe, and contributing to a legacy of excellence that spans eight manufacturing facilities on four continents. Armstrong Fluid Technology is more than just a leader in our industry; we are a community of the brightest and most creative minds, driven by a shared mission to engineer the future and safeguard our planet.

As part of our team, you'llbe immersed in an environment that fosters growth, creativity, and collaboration. Here, you'llhave the opportunity to push boundaries, tackle exciting challenges, and develop technology-enabled solutions that improve employee experience, strengthen data-driven decision-making, and support Armstrong's continued global growth.

We are looking for a talented and forward-thinking QA Automation Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing robust automated test frameworks for our software products. You will work across functional and regression testing, API validation, and long-term automation strategy - ensuring product quality at every stage of the development lifecycle.

This is not a purely operational role. We expect you to bring developer-level thinking to QA, contributing to architecture decisions, mentoring peers, and driving the evolution of our testing practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Regression & Functional Testing

  • Design, build, and maintain comprehensive automated regression test suites using Selenium WebDriver and C# (.NET).
  • Develop and execute end-to-end, integration, and smoke tests across multiple product releases.
  • Triage, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and severity assessments.
  • Collaborate with developers and product managers to ensure test coverage aligns with acceptance criteria.

API & Backend Testing

  • Create and manage API test collections in Postman (including environment variables, pre-request scripts, and assertions).
  • Validate REST/SOAP services, response payloads, authentication flows, and error handling.
  • Integrate API tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.

Automation Framework Development

  • Architect scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks using the Page Object Model (POM) and other design patterns.
  • Build reusable utilities, helpers, and data-driven test components in C#.
  • Integrate automated tests with CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins).
  • Define and enforce coding standards and best practices within the QA codebase.

Long-Term Automation Strategy

  • Evaluate and propose new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to evolve the QA automation ecosystem.
  • Define a roadmap for test automation maturity - from scripted regression to intelligent, risk-based testing.
  • Assess test coverage gaps and proactively identify areas for automation investment.
  • Contribute to shift-left testing initiatives, embedding quality earlier in the SDLC.
  • Stay current with industry trends (AI-assisted testing, contract testing, chaos engineering) and assess applicability.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner closely with software developers, product owners, and DevOps engineers.
  • Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives as the QA voice.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers and promote a quality-first engineering culture.
  • Document test strategies, framework architecture, and onboarding guides.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in QA automation with a focus on regression testing.
  • Strong proficiency in C# (.NET) for writing automated tests and test utilities.
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver for browser automation.
  • Proficiency with Postman for API testing; familiarity with Newman for CLI execution.
  • Solid understanding of software development principles (OOP, SOLID, design patterns).
  • Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins).
  • Ability to read and review application source code to inform test strategy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Experience with BDD frameworks (SpecFlow, Cucumber) for .NET.
  • Familiarity with performance testing tools (k6, JMeter, or similar).
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
  • Exposure to contract testing (Pact) or service virtualization.
  • Experience defining QA KPIs and reporting metrics to stakeholders.
  • Contributions to open-source testing tools or internal frameworks.
  • ISTQB or equivalent certification is a plus.
