The VDC Engineer supports electrical construction projects by bridging the gap between BIM VDC Detailers and Leads to ensure coordinated, high-quality models and consistent project standards. This role facilitates communication across teams, supports model management and clash detection, and serves as a key liaison between office and field operations.
What You'll Do
BIM Implementation & Standards
  • Assist in executing BIM VDC processes on assigned projects.
  • Support development and maintenance of BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
  • Ensure adherence to company standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.

Modeling & Coordination
  • Manage coordination models using Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and related BIM tools.
  • Perform clash detection and track resolution of coordination issues across trades.
  • Produce 2D drawings, shop drawings, and model-based documentation.
  • Provide model extracts and coordination reports to project teams.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Serve as a liaison between Detailer I/II roles and the BIM VDC Lead.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and field teams to ensure accurate system integration.
  • Participate in and occasionally lead coordination meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, foremen, and field crews to ensure constructability and timely issue resolution.

Training & Team Support
  • Mentor and guide BIM VDC Detailer I and II team members.
  • Assist with onboarding and training in BIM VDC workflows and software.
  • Stay informed on BIM VDC advancements and recommend process improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, or comparable BIM VDC software.
  • Understanding of construction processes and project life cycles.
  • Strong communication and collaboration capabilities across diverse project teams.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with cloud-based collaboration platforms.

Demonstrated Accomplishments
  • Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary BIM models and resolve conflicts efficiently.
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining project standards and supporting consistent BIM VDC execution.
  • Track record of fostering collaboration between technical and field teams to ensure constructible solutions.
  • Experience contributing to team development through mentorship and knowledge sharing.

Education & Experience
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Computer Aided Drafting, or a related field, or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supporting large-scale projects preferred.
  • Electrical construction experience preferred.
  • Certifications in BIM VDC-related technologies are a plus.

Working Conditions:
The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment. Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space. You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range: $76,500 - $103,500
*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*

Compensation Range
The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $76,500.00/Yr. - USD $103,500.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
