Job description

Summary
This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System. The primary purpose of this position is to exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing tasks associated with the EMS goals and objectives. Tours of duty may vary depending on the internal department needs with weekdays, weekends, day and evening shift schedules.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Supervises assigned Housekeeping Aids in grads WL-3566-2, WG-3566-2, 3, and 4 and responsible for work distribution among the work force
  • Directs staff in a variety of tasks involving sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning surfaces, waxing floors, window interiors, bathroom fixtures and carpets
  • Routinely monitors staffing of their assigned unit to ensure adequate coverage throughout the medical center.
  • Conducts 3-4 weekly facility inspections of all assigned areas to ensure all service routines and periodic duties are being satisfactorily accomplished
  • Conducts training to assigned Housekeeping Aid Leaders and Aids on Standard Operating Procedures and safety regulations.
  • Disseminate information concerning new medical center and service policies, projects, training needs, availability of new products and equipment.
  • Communicates and discusses job related performance with staff as well as administer periodic performance ratings.
  • Plans weekly/monthly work schedules
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements: Duties require constant physical demands such as bending, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and reaching. Incumbent consistently lifts ups to 50 pounds and periodically lifts over 50 pounds. The incumbent must climb ladders to clean overhead equipment and operate heavy duty commercial cleaning equipment that requires eye, hand, and body coordination. Duties may also require periodic setting of traps and crawl into space to place traps.
