Job description

We are currently hiring Autobody Technician in Orlando, FL for upcoming projects. Pay is up to $25 per hour based on experience and skillset. Autobody Technician is responsible for preparing, for performing bodywork, surface preparation, and finishing tasks that support fabrication and construction projects. This position provides opportunities to advance technical expertise while contributing to projects that blend art, engineering, and craftsmanship.


Schedule

  • Monday to Friday schedule
  • 6:00 AM- 4:00 PM
  • OT Available: Saturday & Sunday
  • Duration: Long- Term


Autobody Technician Responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety regulations, PPE requirements, and shop procedures.
  • Sand, grind, mask, and prep surfaces for filler, primer, or finishing applications.
  • Apply fillers, smooth surfaces, and perform shaping and contouring as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings for accurate project execution.
  • Confidently operate hand and power tools (grinders, sanders, sanding blocks, etc.) safely and effectively without need for mentoring.
  • Spray polyester, water-based, urethane, and epoxy primers with consistency and quality.
  • Mix, apply, and sand autobody fillers on MDF, FRP, and metal surfaces.
  • Mix, apply, and smooth Bondo onto metal surfaces.
  • Mask props and surfaces to prevent overspray and maintain clean finishes.
  • Inspect and ensure all completed work meets quality and finish standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with foremen, leads, and teammates to meet production goals.
  • Assist in training and mentoring team members based on experience level.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in autobody repair, fabrication, or related work.
  • Strong understanding of primers, fillers, sanding techniques, reshaping Bondo, and masking processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and measurements.
  • Skilled with hand and power tools used in bodywork applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Leadership experience preferred for Lead-level candidates.
  • Must be able to pass drug screening


Preferred Skills:

Technician (Intermediate)

• Performs bodywork tasks independently with strong attention to detail.

• Reads and follows blueprints and fabrication drawings.

• Applies fillers, shapes, sands, and finishes complex surfaces.

• Mentors apprentices and supports shop productivity and quality.


Lead (Advanced)

• Oversee day-to-day shop activities and ensure quality control.

• Trains and supervises technicians and apprentices.

• Coordinates with the Foreman to plan schedules and manage workflow.

• Ensures adherence to safety, material, and quality standards


Work Environment:

  • Shop and fabrication environment with exposure to dust, heat, noise, and odors.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE (respirators, gloves, eye protection, etc.) at all times.
  • Requires standing, bending, and lifting up to 30 lbs. regularly.
