Description & Requirements
Maximus is seeking a talented Communications Coordinator to support the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) program by developing and delivering clear, accurate, and engaging communications for diverse stakeholder audiences. This position is contingent upon Maximus' successful award of the OPTN contract, with award notification anticipated in early July. The Communications Coordinator will help translate complex healthcare, policy, and operational information into accessible communications that advance OPTN's mission, foster stakeholder engagement, and support organizational objectives. The role will serve as a key contributor to both internal and external communications strategies, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with program goals.
The successful candidate will collaborate with subject matter experts, leadership, and cross-functional teams to create a broad range of communication products, including newsletters, web content, social media posts, reports, presentations, executive communications, and visual information materials. Through strategic messaging, audience-focused content development, and strong brand stewardship, the Communications Coordinator will help enhance transparency, strengthen stakeholder understanding, and elevate the impact of OPTN initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research, gather and synthesize scientific and policy information translating that information into understandable, audience appropriate communication products.
- Understand, interpret, identify and select appropriate and scientifically accurate and understandable images and graphics to enhance communication products on a regular basis usable by a variety of audiences.
- Provide written and oral communications to support the client in relaying clear, concise, and understandable information to various target audiences.
- Includes developing and editing audience-appropriate reports, news articles, technical publications, brochures, periodicals, speeches, audio-visual materials, profiles, feature stories and Q & As for online, social media and printed content.
- Write, coordinate and upload stories, videos, and pictures to government websites and social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
- Release monthly and weekly newsletter for national and international audiences.
- Develop, explain and support data visualization materials on climate related topics using leading edge technologies to present information in a scientifically accurate, easy to use, and understandable medium for use by the targeted public.
- Locate high-quality sources of imagery, photos and visualization templates for use in formatting assets.
- Routine image preparation tasks include cropping, sub setting, color correction and other tasks, as needed, to provide the best quality image for the desired medium.
- Communicate scientific data and information through visual means.
- Includes but is not limited to the design, production, and display of photographs, graphics, data visualizations, videos, physical displays (such as models or live demonstrations), slides, and charts for the Internet, infographics, pamphlets, exhibits, live or video recorded speeches or lectures, and other means of communicating and go through multiple review cycles, as needed, with NOAA until it is scientifically accurate and understandable by the targeted audience.
- Explain and organize scientific and technical information in a popular style that is easily understandable and usable by non- scientists.
- Work with subject matter experts, when needed, to ensure the information or product is scientifically accurate and understandable by the targeted public

RFP Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and edit a wide variety of unique internal communications materials with tailored messages based on analyses of target audiences and business objectives.
- These materials may include executive memos, corporate policies, corporate department campaigns and announcements, and global employee communications.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that internal communications are clear and meet corporate brand standards.
- Analyze accessibility and usability of corporate intranet platforms and identify areas to streamline.
- Create and edit a wide variety of unique external communications materials with tailored messages based on analyses of target audiences and business objectives.
- These materials may include press and media alerts, prepared statements and messaging for public relations and crisis communications, blog and website content.
- Advise management on strategies to leverage communications materials in a manner that helps achieve business objectives.
- Conduct a brand adherence check for all marketing materials (advertisements, sell sheets, success stories and other marketing pieces) across all business lines and geographies.
- Provide feedback to marketing teams so that future pieces meet corporate guidelines.
- Help support corporate public relations strategies to increase the visibility of MAXIMUS subject matter experts, to include executive leadership.
- This includes working with and managing public relations firms, identifying opportunities for exposure and making recommendations to management, developing messaging, and creating media kits and developing relationships with relevant media.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience; Advanced degree or professional designation preferred.

Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
