Remote Audio Description Writer information

What is a remote audio description writer?

A Remote Audio Description Writer is a professional who creates verbal descriptions of visual content for people who are blind or have low vision. Working remotely, they write scripts that narrate key visual elements in movies, TV shows, theater, and other media. Their goal is to make visual content accessible by describing actions, settings, facial expressions, and other important details that are not conveyed through dialogue alone. These scripts are often recorded and synchronized with the original content, allowing visually impaired audiences to enjoy a fuller experience.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a remote audio description writer?

To thrive as a Remote Audio Description Writer, you need excellent language skills, a keen sense of visual interpretation, and a solid grasp of grammar, often supported by a background in writing, media, or accessibility services. Familiarity with audio editing software, script formatting tools, and accessibility guidelines such as the Audio Description Coalition standards is typically required. Attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to convey visual information concisely are vital soft skills that set top performers apart. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring that visual media is accessible, engaging, and accurately represented for audiences with visual impairments.

What challenges do remote audio description writers face, and how can they be managed?

Remote audio description writers often encounter challenges such as tight deadlines, ensuring accurate and inclusive descriptions for visually impaired audiences, and maintaining clear communication with production teams. Managing these challenges involves developing strong time management skills, staying updated on audio description guidelines, and using collaborative tools to coordinate effectively with editors and directors. Regular feedback sessions and ongoing professional development can also help writers continuously improve the quality and clarity of their work.

Job description

Role & Team

We are looking for an AI-experienced Delivery Operations Manager to own and improve how we deliver results to customers across complex, multi-team workflows.

This is not a traditional project management role. You will design and implement AI systems that replace manual coordination with automation, reduce delivery risk, and give real-time visibility into progress across teams. You'll work across Customer Success, Product and Engineering to ensure that fast paced, dependency-heavy delivery cycles stay on track-with fewer meetings, clearer ownership and earlier risk detection.

Our current AI toolkit: Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, NotionAI, Google Gemini, GitHub Copilot, Dust, Granola, Figma, NanoBanana

Time Zone Requirement: North America - Strong Preference for East Coast

What You'll Do
  • Design, implement and monitor scalable AI systems & workflows (not just manage work)
  • Drive execution across multi-week customer delivery cycles
  • Ensure clarity on timelines, dependencies, and ownership across teams
  • Replace manual status tracking with automated data capture
  • Create visibility and accountability
  • Anticipate and surface risks; proactively unblock teams
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Customer Success, Product and Engineering teams
Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, program management, or product/biz ops in dynamic technical product environments (enterprise B2B, SaaS)
  • Strong systems thinking - you simplify, automate, and scale
  • Demonstrated use of AI in day-to-day work beyond basic writing tasks
  • Proven track record of standing up and owning complex, cross-team processes
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and pushing execution forward
  • Genuine interest in working in climate; alignment with our values, commited to tackling the climate crisis together
Nice To Have
  • Direct experience or demonstrable interest in working in the energy/climate/utility space
  • Remote sensing experience
  • Experience working in globally distributed startup/scale up environments, especially in times of rapid growth

Note: We believe that all people are capable of great things. We encourage you to apply even if you do not meet all of the requirements that are listed within this job description.

What We Offer
  • Competitive, location-specific compensation and benefits
  • Flexible, autonomous and collaborative working environment rooted in trust - we build our work days around our lives, not the other way around
  • Home office stipend, coworking and ongoing education budgets
  • A company culture that genuinely embodies each of our core values
  • To be part of truly mission-driven work that reduces wildfires, protects earth's natural resources and helps solve our climate crisis
