Position Overview

Delmont Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our remote outpatient team in Riverside, California. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments and detailed mental health evaluations to understand clientsโ€™ psychological states.
  • Create, implement, and periodically revise personalized treatment and recovery plans for individuals, pairs, families, and groups.
  • Deliver both individual and group therapy sessions using evidence-based approaches.
  • Regularly assess and monitor client progress towards their therapeutic goals, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate constructively with a multidisciplinary team that may include psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Support clients during hospital referrals and follow up on their progress with inpatient care providers.
  • Educate family members and caregivers about mental health conditions and effective management strategies.
  • Engage with clients to help identify and mitigate any behaviors that may hinder their recovery process.
Patient Population / Client Focus

At Delmont Behavioral Health Center, we serve a varied client population that includes children, adolescents, adults, and families facing an array of mental health challenges. Clients may present with conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and substance use issues, necessitating a nuanced approach to treatment that is empathetic and culturally sensitive. You will play a critical role in empowering clients to overcome their challenges and achieve their mental health goals.

Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • A current and valid license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of California.
  • A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in electronic health record systems, including familiarity with AVATAR or similar platforms.
  • Strong foundation in understanding various physical and emotional health conditions, alongside knowledge of addiction disorders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills evidenced by effective documentation and client interactions.
  • A commitment to continued professional development and adherence to the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous experience as a mental health counselor in outpatient settings.
  • Skills in developing and implementing both individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Experience working with clients dealing with substance use disorders and the complexities surrounding addiction treatments.
  • A background in crisis intervention and effectively handling emergency situations.
