Remote Asynchronous Teaching information

What is remote asynchronous teaching?

A Remote Asynchronous Teaching job involves instructing students online without live, real-time interaction. Teachers create and provide instructional content, such as recorded lectures, readings, and assignments, which students complete at their own pace within a set timeframe. Communication typically occurs through email, discussion boards, or learning management systems. This teaching format offers flexibility for both educators and students while requiring strong organization and time management skills.

What does a typical workweek look like for someone in remote asynchronous teaching?

A typical workweek for a Remote Asynchronous Teaching professional involves preparing and updating course materials, grading assignments, answering student questions via email or online forums, and reviewing student progress on a flexible schedule. Since there are no scheduled class meetings, you have the autonomy to plan your workload and respond to students as needed, as long as deadlines are met. Regular communication with other educators or instructional designers may also occur to coordinate course updates or address student concerns. This structure allows for a high degree of independence, but it also requires strong self-motivation and organizational skills to ensure that students stay engaged and supported.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote asynchronous teaching, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Asynchronous Teaching professional, a strong background in subject matter expertise, online curriculum development, and instructional design is essential, usually supported by a relevant degree or teaching certification. Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), digital assessment tools, and multimedia content creation platforms is highly beneficial. Excellent written communication, time management, and the ability to provide clear, engaging feedback are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure that students receive effective support and high-quality instruction, even without real-time interaction.

Job description

About Us
Higharc is a VC-backed startup that is changing how new homes are designed and built. Join a founding team who've shipped products for Autodesk, Electronic Arts, Nike, and Apple. We have raised over $175M with support from top-notch venture capital firms and more than 18 strategic investors: industry leaders in construction, building products manufacturing, and distribution.
Higharc is seeking a hands-on Customer Training Lead to own our interactive customer training across virtual and in-person formats. As we invest more heavily in customer enablement, this role will report to the Director of Training and Support and work closely with our Training Content Lead and internal subject matter experts to make sure every customer gets the most out of the Higharc platform.
What You'll Do
You'll be the face of training for our customers, whether that's leading a hands-on session at a builder's office or running a virtual walkthrough for a distributed team. You'll work closely with our Training Content Lead to shape materials, and with Product, Customer Success, and Implementation to make sure what you're teaching reflects where the platform actually is today.
This role sits close to the customer relationship. You'll read the room in real time, adjust when something isn't landing, and follow up to make sure it actually sticks. Expect meaningful travel - up to 50% of the time to customer locations across the continental US.
Expect to:
  • Deliver in-person training at customer facilities that's hands-on and genuinely engaging, traveling up to 50% of the time to US-based locations
  • Lead virtual training sessions for remote customers, adapting your delivery to keep it effective and engaging in a digital format
  • Identify training needs and partner with the Training Content Lead to customize materials for individual customers
  • Stay current with Product, Customer Success, and Implementation so training always reflects the latest platform capabilities
  • Monitor customer progress during sessions, adjust on the fly, and provide follow-up guidance to reinforce what was taught
  • Gather feedback after every session and use it to keep sharpening your training approach
About You
You've trained customers on complex, technical software before - ideally something like modeling or BIM tools where the learning curve is real. You know how to read a room, adjust your pace, and make dense material click for people who didn't come in as experts. You're as comfortable running a session in person as you are keeping people engaged over a screen.
You're organized enough to juggle multiple customers and curricula at once, but you never lose the personal touch that makes training actually work.
You have:
  • 4+ years of direct customer training experience for a highly technical enterprise software solution - modeling or BIM software experience is a strong plus
  • A high EQ and strong communication skills, interpersonal, written, and verbal
  • Proven experience delivering both in-person and virtual training in a classroom-style setting
  • Comfort traveling up to 50% of the time to customer locations across the US
  • A strong ability to customize training materials for different customers and audiences
  • An adaptable, resourceful approach and a genuine passion for helping others learn
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving

A major plus if you also bring:
  • Familiarity with using AI tools to streamline content creation and enhance training materials
Working at Higharc
Remote work and travel: Our company is entirely remote, and has been since we were founded in 2018. Remote work means more time with family, less time commuting, and the flexibility to blend work and life. We value in-person collaboration and asynchronous deep-work time, which is why we schedule regular team meet-ups in our hubs across the US and, depending on the role, prioritize hiring in those hubs. If your role requires frequent travel beyond pre-scheduled team meet ups, we will represent that to the best of our ability as early as possible in the interview process.
Compensation and benefits: Higharc offers competitive salaries with significant equity, in a fast-growing, well-funded company. We provide comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, with flexible PTO, and meaningful maternity/paternity leave to all U.S based employees that are full-time. You'll also have access to other big-company benefits such like short and long-term disability plans and a 401K. We also provide a stipend to create the ideal home office and support ongoing L&D.
Please note: we are seeing an uptick of fraudulent recruiting activity claiming to be associated with Higharc. All communication and outreach from our in-house team will come from an @higharc.com email address.
