Job Duties

IDR is seeking an MFT Platform Engineer. This remote role involves supporting the implementation and operation a File Transfer platform within a GCP-hosted environment. The engineer will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining secure data transfer workflows to ensure high performance and compliance with security standards.

Position Overview for the MFT Platform Engineer:

  • Support the deployment and configuration of the Globus Connect Server for secure data transfers.

  • Manage storage gateways and data transfer workflows to optimize performance.

  • Onboard research users and provide Tier 1/2 operational support.

  • Maintain platform health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system reliability.

  • Implement security and governance standards, including HIPAA, NIST, and Zero-Trust principles.

Requirements for the MFT Platform Engineer:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or an associateโ€™s degree with two years of relevant experience.

  • Over three years of hands-on experience working with the Globus platform, including GCS v5, endpoints, and collections.

  • Strong knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, and networking.

  • Proficiency in Linux system administration and scripting with Bash.

  • Understanding of high-throughput data transfer protocols like GridFTP.

  • Experience with networking security concepts and Zero-Trust security models.

  • Background working in large-scale data transfer or Managed File Transfer (MFT) environments.
