Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Incumbent works in the Directorate of Public Works and maintains, repairs, and operates building automation systems (BAS).

Duties
Help
  • Works with building equipment mechanics and contractors to complete maintenance and repair of building automation systems (BAS).
  • Examines and troubleshoots communication links with Local Area Networks.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and diagnoses individual controls and system problems through remote interface software or directly while on site.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs direct digital controls, programmable logic controllers, Siemens APPOGEE building controllers, and building mechanical systems.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a recognized certification as a Building Commissioning Professional within 2 years,(i.e. Siemens BACnet, Master Operator, APPOGE Programming, Monaco Fire Alarms and Arc Flash certification).
  • Incumbent is required to possess or obtain and maintain a valid State Driver's License.
  • Physical required - must pass a pre-employment medical examination and annually thereafter.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certification or education in Automation and Instrumentation Equipment Repair and Calibrating.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electronics dealing with electrical, mechanical, heating and/or air conditioning equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
  • Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise handles items weighing up to 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds). Occasionally handles items greater than 22.7 kilograms. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. Works in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Occasionally, climbing and work in high places may be required.
  • Work is usually performed inside in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. When equipment is fixed in place, it is sometimes necessary to work in warehouse or industrial areas exposed to loud noises, heat or cold, fumes, etc. Subject to injuries, such as electric shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical energy or soldering irons.
